Put some movement into your woven wall hanging with some wavy lines. Easy to create when you have a foundation of triangles to work around.
If you want to make the full woven wall hanging then watch Part 1 and all the following parts to complete the woven wall hanging. Each part will go over another weaving technique. This way you can choose what type of weave you like and create your own fabulous wall hanging or use my instructions to make the full woven hanging that I have created for you.
All my weaving videos will be in my "WEAVING INSTRUCTIONS" playlist for you to reference at any time. Here is the link: • WEAVING INSTRUCTIONS

Crafty Patti I am just beginning but would like to include spaces in my weaving where only the warp threads are visible. I have seen this on wall hangings and I'm wondering if there is a certain way to do it so the weaving above this space doesn't "fall down" the threads?

Hi! I’m new to weaving. Live the detailed tutorials. Question: wouldn’t of be easier to have 2 sheds instead of having to change the one constantly? Thanks!

Hi Andrea, The loom that I am demonstrating on is a very basic frame loom and is great for learning how to weave. I was trying to keep it basic for beginners. It only allows for one shed. For more advanced weaving you can add string heddles to every other warp thread which is then attached to a rod. This creates a second shed and does indeed make your weaving go faster. I don’t have a video as yet on how to add the heddle strings.i will put it on my list of future videos!

can you have a video showing how to do wavy lines that are not symmetrical?

I have a long list of future videos that I want to do. I can’t promise anything but I will add your request to the list. I love getting suggestions from my viewers and try to help everyone out.

Whenever I have tried to add waves or curves into my weaves, it always does 2 things: 1 bunches up the warp strings and 2 when taken off the loom, the waves lose their curve and it gets pulled horizontally (therefore straightening out). Maybe I'm pulling the weft too tight? I'm not sure. I would love to be able to add some organic flowy shapes in my weaves but it never works out.

Yes, you have figured it out. Definitely sounds like you are pulling the weft to tight. Look at your first row of weaving and make sure all the rows above are the same width between each weft string. When trying to make curves start with more weaves on the first row and each row after that leave out a string on each side forming your triangle or go more gradual for a curve. Hope that all helps.

Hello can acrylic yarn be used for weaving or should I use wool?
@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts

Yes, definitely! It doesn’t have to be wool. Any acrylic or wool yarn. Whatever you have around and in the colours you like and in any thickness. It all works.

@@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts Thank you so much! Do you have any tips for weaving landscapes? I'd really love to learn how to do that but so many weavers don't really tell much of their tips and tricks.

This weaving tutorial goes over how to make triangles which would be the same idea as mountains. Or make them more rolling hills which would be more rounded. When you are working with hills or mountains the closer they are the darker they are. Lighten up mountains further in the distance. Put in a light blue for your sky and maybe some white here and there to represent clouds. Put in some different shades of browns and greens on the bottom to represent the foreground. That’s some ideas for you.

@@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts Thank you so much! And I think I have just one final question about all of this. Would a 30x30 loom be gigantic or even 40x40? I would like to try to make a detailed landscape, I know I am a beginner but I really have this as a goal in mind. Also do the warp strings being closer together give more detail or should they be spaced more apart for more detail? Thank you :)

Hi there, I prefer to go big than you have art that can be placed on a wall and not look tiny. Warp threads that are close together are for finer or thinner yarns. Placing the warp threads further apart is great when you what to use lots of thick yarns or heavy material like pieces of wool roving. Enjoy your exciting project Patti
