After this performance Craig walked off stage and said he would never do it again because it was too hard on him. Another country singer Ricky Scaggs told him he had to because so many people who have lost children need to hear it. He has only performed it live a handful of times. Such a beautiful song but man does it hurt to watch him struggle to get through this!! God Bless him!!

This song almost broke me. Considering everything he’s already seen in life as a veteran and as a first responder I can only imagine the internal strength and faith he must have to stay so strong and positive. These people and their unvarnished truths are why I love country music.

My youngest, Matt, was just 18. He would've turned 35 this month. So hard to even imagine "what might've been". I think that's the part that hurts the most even after all this time. He was just starting out in life and was cheated out of it. 💔 I still miss him like crazy and would give literally anything to get one of his huge hugs again! Perhaps one day... 🙏🏻

I'm not a person who cries, but when I read this I burst into tears. I don't even have children. How is it through a post comprised of 12 words I was able to be moved in such a profound manner? I'm so sorry for....I'm just sorry. There are no words. I don't want this to sound callous or paint me as a narcissist, but I'd also like to thank you for making me feel. I've been medicated my entire life and I tend to feel numb most of the time. Somehow you broke through, and for a moment, I experienced a true emotion. Hugs to you and yours. Becca

Former military ... a true patriot who spent 8 1/2 years active duty with the 101st and 81st Airborne. He continued with his military career with an additional 6 1/2 years in the reserves. That's why the line where he references Uncle Sam. Blake Shelton, who is a very dear friend of Craig's withdrew his nomination for the CMT award, allowing Craig Morgan to receive it. Craig did indeed say that he would never perform this live again because of how difficult it was for him. He has since changed that, knowing how much the song has helped others suffering a similar loss, he does perform it at shows. A very touching performance of this is from the Kelly Clarkson show with Blake also there to watch Craig do this number, he barely made it through ... emotion getting the best of him at the end.

This was the 1st time Craig Morgan ever Performed that song after the song he walked backstage to one of his friends and asked him did you hear that And his friend replied with a head shake yes Craig looked at him with tears in his eyes and said good cause you'll never hear it again. He said it was one of the hardest songs that he ever had to sing and didn't think he would ever be able to sing again. But by singing it over and over it has gotten easier and he understands how much the song helps other people when they hear it so now he sings it all the time. God-bless you Craig Morgan.

I lost my son while he was serving our country in 2020. I knew of craig Morgan but had never heard this song until about 3 months after my sons passing. EVERYTHING he says in this song is what I went through and still am. I didn't want to hang out with my friends even though they were trying to just cheer me up. Every morning I go outside and say my prayers and talk to my son. I would kind of just go through the motions of living. Even though time has passed, it still hurts so incredibly bad and I miss him terribly. This song has helped me heal and am so grateful Craig decided to share this song. As for Craig Morgan please check out "Almost home" ita another beautiful song. I am really enjoying your channel, keep up the great work!

I almost made it through this day without crying. Today would have been my sister’s 63rd birthday. She died from colon cancer 15 years ago. She was born 3 months premature and they told my parents she wouldn’t make it through the night. After 5 months in the hospital, they were able to bring her home. They found out sometime after that that she was deaf. She had to fight to live the second she was born and she fought really hard for 3 years after being diagnosed. I’m 3 years younger than her and we were extremely close. She helped me raise my daughter, who she told everyone was her daughter! Lol! She loved her so much and in fact, my daughter could sign before she could even talk because my sister took care of her while I worked. The sweetest/hardest thing about all of this is my sister was living with my daughter and me toward the end (she lived next door but we moved her in with us when she was really getting bad) and when my daughter came hime from school one day, my sister mustered everything she had and signed Happy Birthday to my daughter (it was her 17th birthday). At 10:30 that night, she passed away in her sleep. So she died on my daughter’s 17th birthday. My daughter counts it as a blessing (me, not so much). But because they were soooo close, I’m glad my daughter looks at it that way. I love this song and I love my sister….and yes, I totally believe I will see her again except when I do, I’ll be able to hear her beautiful voice and she’ll finally be able to hear my voice. Thank you for this reaction and God bless you and your family!!

I am new to your channel but must tell you my feelings after hearing Craig Morgan's "The Father, my son , and the holy ghost." I have lost 3 sons, my husband and my dear, dear brother. I don't allow myself to cry much, but , in addition to hearing these three artists, as well as George Jones "He Stopped Loving Her today." "In Color", Jamey Johnson; "The Dance", Garth Brooks , I wept. Craig Morgan had such RAW feelings in his performance that I truly felt it. All people don't feel the same about religion and faith. Mine is very close to Craig Morgan's. I know , someday soon, I will see ALL my departed loved ones and the tears I will shed will truly be tears of joy, no more tears from grief.

The strength of my mother never ceased to amaze me. We lost her 3 years ago. She had 6 children and lost two sons, my brothers. One right before his 18th birthday and the other at the age of 42. Her strength was unmatched and she managed to move on. Strength is a very hit and miss thing. Even now I miss them all and they are many times just out of thought and the thoughts of them are brought back many times a year. She of course used her faith and family to get by. I only hope to have a fraction of her strength and faith to rely on.

Blake Shelton, another country hit maker, had a song at number 1 the week Craig released this song. Blake tweeted that he would gladly give up his #1 spot on country radio to get this song on and then began a campaign to get other country fans, and even more so, country radio to play it. He said play it once and watch what happens! This song is the song we all need; every one who has lost anyone (for me, my dad) and has hope in the Lord to one day see them again, finds themselves in this song. That's the power of music. I hate that Craig, an extraordinary man, had to go through this but man, I'm super glad God put these words in his heart to share with me.

It’s a beautiful song and it perfectly sums up some of what it’s like to live with the loss of a child. It’s there every day and you don’t get over it, you don’t get used it. I lost my daughter in 2016 and she’s with me every day. I can’t imagine that there’s anything worse than losing a child but if there is, I pray to never know it. I pray for every angel mom and dad out there. I pray for them to still see the joy that there is in living. I pray for them to let the memories of their child bring a smile to their heart and peace to to their soul. I thank Mr. Morgan for sharing his love his of his son and our Father with us all. I am so glad that you yourself did not lose a child. I myself used to “hope” Heaven is for real even though I am a Christian I still had “faith”. When my daughter was 12 and killed by a drunk driver when she was crossing the street, my faith changed. Jesus gave me a “Peace” that only He can. So now I tell people I don’t have to “believe”, because I KNOW I will be with Jesus one day and hold my daughter again. So glad you are on this country music journey. I myself did not start to like country until I was 23 and went in the Army. Garth Brooks opened the door for me and I have been hooked ever since. Even the twangy stuff I love.

One of my absolute favorite country artists, I remember hearing when Morgan’s son died. He actually went up to the stage riding a dirt bike years ago when I saw him at an outdoor concert

Your reaction to this tragedy was very empathetic. . . I lost my dad about a year and an half ago. He was 85. I was with him nearly every day of my life. I have lost all of my grandparents, my dear mother, aunts, uncles, a few cousins, and many of my smalltown revered friends and acquaintances. But you could put them all on the scales in one big wad and the loss of my dad outweighed them all put together. It was and still is rough. Anyway, you seem like a super nice guy Thanks for this reaction. God bless.

New subscriber here. Thank you for doing this video. Craig is such a wonderful person and music artist. This song is a tough one to get through but I'm sure it's very helpful to many many people out there. I hope to never have to live what he's going through.

My Brother passed away in 2018. So my parents what it's like to lose a child, I still, struggle, through my grief, but time does help. And what also helps me get through my grief is I know I will get through this when I get to see him again. RIP Brother 1985-2018

I’ve heard this song hundreds of times and I still bawl my eyes out every time. I do not have children so I don’t relate in any way but I can feel the pain every time I hear these lyrics and his voice 😓
