Miley’s speed of thought and pass stood out for me today, enjoyed Osula’s energy and desire, you can see the lad has something, Targett was really good today but Gordon and Bruno changed the game. Poor first half but much more control in the second half. Miley must be ahead of Sean and Joe Willock. After todays display, this lad could be anything

I’ve not even watched this yet! Watching now! But we’ve all just been saying the same thing! One of our own. Delighted for the lad. Poor performance in first half. What’s wrong with beating a player and crossing? Two many side ways passes. But lots of squad players etc. can’t overly criticise. Best moment at match was seeing so many new fans (school children) thoroughly enjoying themselves. It was heartening.

Longstaff and Almiron had me tearing my hair out - again . Miley is a gem . Osula looks raw and not quite PL ready , but has promise . Barnes looks out of sorts . Targett was okay . Trippier and Kelly were inconsistent . The gulf in quality between our regular starting eleven and this line up is scary though. Certain players have had their time and need to leave now or in the summer .

Miley has the ability to become a cultured attacking midfielder. He can place a forward pass like Bruno and has enough pace to create space for himself. The goal shows he is developing his strength. He is unlikely to become a Tonali like defensive midfielder, but , hopefully he will get more minutes on the pitch as the season progresses. Let's hope we're right on it for the Wolves game. I'm taking it game by game, Craig, but it is certainly a warm feeling around the team at present!

This games has proven that the dropoff between in the front 3 is quite huge actually, for CF it's pretty obvious and we really need to sign someone able to cover for Isak while Osula (who I think has fantastic potential) developps, I cannot stress how important it is to find a big CF with good hold up play, and this is where Osula needs to improve the most in my opinion. But this is also true for the wingers where Barnes despite being a very good finisher, dont provide enough threat 1v1 and dont press well enough. For him, Id consider to use him as CF if we dont sign anyone, but as LW I've seen enough to feel like we should part ways with him. On the RW if we cannot get a long term target, we should look at the loan market as well, otherwise, Id like to see more of Willock on the flanks, especially with Lewis Miley on the verge of becoming the 4th midfielder in the rotation. Good game from Matt Targett, hope we can see more the same, disappointed by Longstaff who's energy seems off since his excellent performance v Arsenal in the league. Anywayn good review as usual, love the content

Totally agree that we do need some better quality for games like this but if you take into account our usual first 11 are better quality players gonna want to come to warm the bench. It’s a fine line but after 9 changes it would be disjointed early doors. Trying to keep everyone happy is a tough ask these days.

While I agree that Miley really shone today (and he’s definitely bulked up), Osula looked lively and made some positive runs but he was never picked up or given the ball. And pleasing to see Sanusi getting a chance and fingers crossed he gets more chances and follows a similar path to Miley. Today shone a light on what we have away from the 15/16 match day starters. There is a serious lack of depth in the squad. But for some it won’t be a shock. Almiron has always played like he did today. Longstaff has had more games like today than he’s had outstanding games.

@@craighope_dailymailCraig lad, he was force of nature. His legs were that bandy, he couldn't stop a pig in an alley but I've never seen a faster striker but that wasn't his only asset. Malcolm had supreme confidence, just like Isak. He could score any type of goal from tap ins and headers to a volley over the shoulder with his weaker foot. Some players are just born to score goals and Supermac was one of them. Great video son and thank you for your reply.

Some strange performances today, some of the names so-called fans are calling to offload are simply laughable, but what can you expect from the terminally online section of the fanbase? The one I simply cannot wrap my head around is Barnes. He just doesn't fit into any of the other categories. He isn't an Almiron/Targett who has been outgrown by the club, he isn't a dependable old stalwart like Longstaff or Lascelles, he isn't a cheap shirt filler like Kelly or a future prospect like Osula. I really, really don't like to call him a flop, because he's had some magnificent days in a toon shirt and you never feel bad to see him coming off the bench, his talent is obvious and he has hugely upgraded the strength of our bench. But I do struggle to think of a good performance when he was in the starting XI, and that's baffling for a player of such pedigree and quality. Strange, strange thing - Bromley came to play and you hate to take anything away from them, but today really should have been a game for him and Almiron to run riot. I don't begrudge the half time score sheet, but I wish we'd seen more danger and dynamism from either of them with all the possession we had. Once again, I'd like to profess my undying hatred for anyone who ever wants Longstaff to leave the club. Y'all are sick in the head and I don't want to know any of yous. He should finish his career with us and I'll always be reassured to see him on the team sheet.

You had me right up to the Longstaff paragragh. You're allowing emotion rule here. I've met him a couple times and he is a really nice guy. He is not a PL player. He can't manipulate his body in tight spaces that is an absolute necessity at this level. He should be dominating games like today. Instead he puts in that performance.

I never thought and i still don’t think Miley is a 6. I think his natural position is a creative 10 that we’ve been missing so much. His close control and vision are incredible, he can run well and he’s especially great at spotting the attackers’ runs and gives them great through balls. Plus it seems clear that defending is not his strong suit, he’s naturally an attacking player.

Schar was fine, no mistakes and some good long balls. Kelly was an issue, he challenged for a ball and lost which created the gap for their goal scorer to run into. He also was careless on the ball. Joelinton and Miley were industrious in midfield while Longstaff looked disinterested. The biggest concern was often those three were within 5 yards of each. Talk about congestion, it was a disjointed midfield which set the tone. Meanwhile, Almiron was really poor, run around like a headless chicken with no idea how to breakdown the opposition. Murphy is so much better and cleverer. Osula was poor but then showed that bit of quality which is why Howe wanted him - if Callum was fit he'd go on loan right now as his development is well behind Delap and they both cost the same! There's a player there but he turns 22 this Summer, he needs minutes! Targett was hot and cold, he got into some good spaces but his final ball was poor. The opposition also had the legs on him so he looked leggy at times when trying to get back. Young Sanussi needs to go out on loan next season as he has the ASM flair but also runs into blind alleys all the time. He needs to be more patient. Right now, we need a RW, RCB and GK for the starting XI. In the future, we could do with replacing Longstaff/Willock and Kelly/Krafth as well as a Striker who can share minutes with Isak.

Agree Miley best player on the pitch. Gordon changed the game. Disappointed in Sean, Miggy, Barnes, Tripps, coincidence that they all could go? who knows. Thought Targett played well just rusty at start. DIdn't do his move chances any harm that's for sure. Osula made his chance, took it well, still looks a bit raw to me. Needs games maybe next year he gets a loan but this season we need him to come on so we can stop playing Isak for 90 mins. The treble? unlikely but all we can do is keep trying and keep winning as many as possible. I think I now expect this team to finish top four, crazy!

Lewis Miley streets ahead of Kobie Mainoo, always thought it last year. Majority of PL fans barely even heard of him - Just that he doesn’t play for the TalkSPORT establishment! Eddie’s doesn’t need to be England manager, he’s doing the work for Tuchel just like Pep did producing players for Southgate from City!! Targett was fine, considering how long he's been out. He cant carry the ball as well as Hall, but he was a willing runner (which is how we gotbthe penalty) and mostly did OK defensively. Kelly was a bit shaky at the start, but so were most of the team. Howe gave them some instructions while one of the Bromley players was getting treatment, because after the restart, they came out and were better. Miley scored not long after that. Kelly and Schar were fairly steady after that and especially in the second half, although that appeared to be because the substitutes improved our control of the ball in midfield.

Almiron and longstaff have showed today there is no future at Newcastle we must be cruel to be kind does longstaff really want to sit on the sidelines for the next couple of years and Almiron knows his days are over in the north east good luck miggy HWTLs

Longstaff was absolutely awful. I don’t give af how many games we have won with him in the side - pure coincidence. Championship at best. Miggy also.

We really saw today the players that we have to cash in on if possible…Miggy being one, longstaff hasn’t developed much over the past few years and also Targett. We should also be really pushing for that Donyell Mallen. He’s an absolute bargain of a right winger. Howay NUFC

Time to sell Barnes, waste of money for just a sub. Money could be spent somewhere else.

Newcastle United play very poorly. If it's not for wonderful strikes by Miley & Osula, Bromley got chance to win for sure

True, but they were all playing against a League Two team, and only one of them really stood out.

I like longstaff but he was not great all today. Almiron was awful,, yikes. Barnes is very weak. Can score but can't get into position. Yep our 2nd 11 is not tip top. But we are building. Come on longstaff,,, prove me wrong young man,,, your a geordie

Longstaff shouldn't be asked to perform roles that his talent and skilset palpably are unsuited for PERIOD! That's not disrespecting him in any way unlike many of our fans especially online. Simply stating facts Eddie Howe's view on the training ground allied to misguided loyalty may be clouding his judgement but there's a player of sorts in there somewhere, just not in attacking or creative positions. I'd wager if he was switched to NUMBER 6 (CDM) with strict instructions to just sit, protect the back four, intercept/break up opposition play, win the darn ball then GIVE IT TO THE BETTER PLAYERS with simple passes he would endear himself to the locals by showing he can indeed play there as a (half decent back up to Tonali) 😮😮😮 There I've said it. Where he struggles is finding himself in advanced or creative positions trying to do what his skilset simply is not equipped for. Athleticism energy is a given with him but the rest of it? Forget about that or else
