I watched the hurricane Live in downtown St. Pete from JLR Investigates last night. He said winds were sometimes over 100mph which lasted over 3 hours. It was a sight to behold.

They need to consult the crane operators who oversaw the removal of the cranes in the collapse of the Hard Rock Cafe Hotel in New Orleans. There was a lot of new techniques developed during the removal of the cranes which could make things easier.

Unfortunately, a crane like that takes a couple of weeks to disassemble. The 1st showing of Milton took place 5 days prior to making landfall. So their wasn't enough sufficient time to get that done. But at least nobody was in the area once the crane collapsed.

No matter how many times we are warned to have 3-7 days of food and drinking water, flashlights, etc. because it can take that long for help to get to you, we don't do it. There is a small percentage of people who do I suppose but most of us (including myself) don't. And they have multiple hurricanes every single year in Florida. Human nature is stupid sometimes.'

I watched an interview with a mayor or sheriff or someone before the hurricane where they were asked specifically about the cranes. They said that the cranes are designed to handle hurricane winds otherwise they would have been removed.'

The Governor's are in charge. FEMA is there to assist the Governor of States in providing disaster relief. Republicans voted NO on extending FEMA funding including Republicans in the hardest hit states. Every Democrat voted YES.
