I would take the cutout and add small hinges, and add sizable air filter and door will have a small spacer to keep filter in place, with rubber seal around all edges. like that water block idea too.

That was a great fix. I had a 1992 cherokee 2 door. I wish i still had it. I employeed a bit of mechanical jiu jitsu against my 1992 f150 recently. I was getting water on the passenger floorboard, so i drilled a hole in the floor 😂. Cheers

I tried this exact same thing but couldn't get my hand over the cold air intake to get to the fender side, didn't think of cutting it down. What was that tape that you used?
@RightOnJonCrane11 ай бұрын
Right On! 🙌 Yes that helped to cut it down. A good tip is to blow out the drain holes close to the fender when you are there. This repair fixed the problem. No more wet floor and I’ve had some heavy rain 🌧️. The tape is butyl window flashing tape made by Vycore! Very sticky. Good to put down with a heat gun. Thanks for watching!

@@RightOnJonCraneso you say this DID remedy the swamp land passenger floorboard issue? I’m about to do the same thing if so; I thought it might have been the wiper arm pivots or even the passenger front door weatherstrip seal not coming down far enough. My weatherstrip seems to be in good shape and factory but it doesn’t look like it extends far enough down the door hinge edge which with the fuse block being there also doesn’t seem well thought out 🤦🏻♂️😅. Love the vehicle but geez. I’ll follow your example if it was effective. Thanks for sharing brother
@RightOnJonCrane22 күн бұрын
@@MidnightOilsRestoration Yes this fix worked great! I’ve never had a drop of water on the passenger side since. When you open it up there are drain holes that get clogged up with debris. Be sure to clean them out as well.

A great video, thanks... How were your results? My '00 is wet on the DRIVER'S side, and I've been having minor electrical problems. Do you think it could be leaking from THAT side of the canyon? Or maybe the water is traveling across? Anyway, thanks for the suggestions... the job looks a bit scary.

After trying this fix, it didn't work for me. Spent weeks searching and finally located the leak. It was in the bottom corner of the windshield seal on the passenger side. The hole was visible and I filled it with a shot of silicone. It was allowing water to drip onto the inside of the firewall. Hopefully this might help someone else.
@MidnightOilsRestoration8 ай бұрын
Yes I’m thinking that’s where mine is coming in also! I noticed that in the video here his had stainless trim around the windshield where mine doesn’t have that at all. Mine is a 97’ so maybe that was changed in the design. The thick rubber mat that covers the entire firewall is making it kinda tough to really see where the issue is but my windshield seal has shrank for sure and at the corners it almost appears to be a perfect spot to seep in both at the top-right where the drip-rail gutter can funnel it right into the top corner…or bottom right where it all comes to a point 🤦🏻♂️! Love this Jeep but this swamp-ass floorboard+sour/mildew smell is for the birds! My carpet has been out for a month now!
