There were very obvious differences between the models between the first one and the other two. It annoys me that he just says "There may have been some improvements" and didn't even bother to look at a picture of the next model. He just left it at "This is the model that was used in all three games" when it was only used in one.

During development, Chief wasn't the mascot of anything. Once Halo hit the Xbox, is when it came into its own. Funnily enough, Microsoft never intended the Chief to be their mascot. If you remember a little title for the original Xbox called Blinx the Timesweeper, THAT was Microsoft's "answer" to the cutesy characters of Sega, Nintendo, and Sony. As you can see by the absolute multitude of games that came out for Blinx [sarcasm], Blinx didn't do so well. Halo however, took off, with Halo 2 cementing Chief as the Xbox's (at the time) unofficial mascot

This was a good episode, but too short compared to the previous two. You missed CB2/3 model, which is sightly different from the first one. I understand you didn't mention CTR or CNK models since they're fused to the vehicle, but you missed Crash Bash model. I hope you make a Metal Gear episode in the future. Even though is not the same Snake in all games, they are al Snakes, so technically a comparison between those models wouldn't be that weird. I hope you also mention the PSP games models, since in Portable Ops Plus you have Naked Snake and a low poly Old Snake, which I'd love to see compared to the PS3 Old Snake. I guess getting those models must be pretty hard, but you're doing an amazing work, so I will wait to see what's next on Low Poly :D

The normal model for Crash in the first game isn't used in any game afterwords. Crash was remodeled for 2, and that's the model that's used in 2, Warped and the cutscenes in CTR. The original one does show up in 2 and Warped when you die to fire. You can see his model swap to the OG as he crumbles into ash, because they reused the animation. The model maker must have just misremembered. Bandipedia has the models conveniently next to each other on his page, as well as his appearance in every other game. Looking at them side by side, it is really obvious that they're different models. His face, hair, eyebrows, body, hands, pants and shoes all look noticeably different.

Crash 3 went a bit over the top imo but yeah as far as Crash models go, 2 & 3 are perfect - I even prefer them over N. Sane's model even though it has so many more polygons. Is Crash 3's model identical to 2's? Obviously more and different animations, I think Crash 3's model handles slightly different with its momentum when jumping.but his looks are the same?

Maaaan. This takes me back. Wrath of Cortex was THE FIRST 3D Game I played. I remember renting a PS2 and Wrath constantly. Oh my god, crash was my childhood!!!! Whenever my dad was willing to unplug the wii and plug in the old chunky PS2, we’d play mind over mutant and the racing game (lol I forget already) and it was the second best thing in the world for me!! Wrath of Cortex was actually the very 1st Crash Bandicoot game I ever played as a child, and I owned the XBOX version by Traveler's Tales. I never beat the game even to this day, however I still have fond memories of the game nonetheless.

You dropped the ball on this one. Crash 2 and 3 do have different models. You didn't mention CTR, Crash Bash or Crash Nitro Kart, all of which have different models as well.

Yo, there was a separate model for Crash 2 and Warped, ya forgot CTR, Bash, and Nitro Kart. Also, you missed the fact that there's an Xbox port for Wrath of Cortex. And that Crash model had real time hair. Or, simulated it, anyway

Ian [Archiver] Oh yes. You can find a longplay of the xbox version on youtube, the thumbnail should be the game cover for the Xbox Platinum Hits saying 106%. It has a 1080p option, switch it to that, and you'll see. Edit: If you still can't see it, it helps if you played it alongside one of the other versions. Preferably, the Gamecube port.

I will say the crash 2 and 3 models were definitely improved. They gave him an eye color instead of those classic sonic like eyes, they made him shorter and stalker, so he was hunched over a lot more showing how crazy he is, and I’m like, 95.7% sure that they added a ton more tri’s/polygons in the joints because crash certainly had far more animation capabilities in crash 2 then in 1, and especially more in crash 3, like crash can now put his arms in front of his body instead of them being like a lego figure, and crash can now grip and hold things like the yo-yo in crash 3 where as in crash 1 he never moved his fingers or his arms in any directions other than up and down, and finally he’s now able to pull off advanced facial expressions without horribly miss shapening the model, in crash 1 any expression other than his mouth in a terrifying smile or his mouth like a black circle was miss shapen, like when they had to stretch the mouth outside of the mouth area for the face on the total screen. Fast forward to crash 3 and he’s pulling off millions of expressions and not once do they ever look like they break the mold of the model. (Also I think he might have had a texture added to his soles, they just look more detailed in crash 3, but I’m not sure) needless to say, *they made improvements.* (Edit) I also just checked and in crash 2 and 3 they enlarged his eye brows, probably to pull of more cartoony expressions, or just to make them more noticeable so his eyes don’t look like they were squinting when he pulled off more advanced expressions.

eh? the way it works is more the evolution of a single character from their first 3d appearance. since GTA has different playable characters each game, it wouldn't really work for the series

Yeah, some people want to see CTR and Crash Bash which is only enjoyable in 2 player and apart from a small minoroty of people, everyone hates this game for being a cashgrab with boring minigames. But I think its not that bad.

And CTR is a great game for a first try at the kart racing genre and it has interesting design choices in the modeling of the characters so it would been great to see these games in this video.h
