According to VV, initially there wasn't enough time in their schedule to create a fully playable Coco. The team really wanted it to happen though and created a separate game jam outside of work specifically to do so before it was greenlit to be in the final game. That's dedication!

Crash is such a natural translation of 2D platforming to 3D, it basically is just a 2D platformer with the camera behind you for most of the levels. If there was a crash maker and you converted every level to 2D or to 3D they'd be remarkably similar. Also works great for sonic and would work well for Kirby to limit the usefulness of flying

Considering Coco was a last minute addition to the game, it makes sense for her to not have a custom moveset, it'd be additional things to code, such as hitboxes and behaviours, rather than just animations.

How Crash 1 is to 2 & 3 is how sonic 1 is to 2 & 3&K. Lacking in moves that make the character so much more fun to play and the level design is really different (with sonic in how slow it is and with Crash how much harder it is). Also with the original versions they both have bad save systems 😂

Scott Elder um...Sonic 1 and 2 had NO save system. All you had was continues that you earned, and (if push comes to shove) a level select code.

but the feeling was there! and to be fair to both, they where made in times when saving wasn't a common thing. crash was released early in the ps1 days when developers hadn't quite gotten the hang of save systems, and the sonic megadrive games had limited space and where made far before saving was a thing, since until sonic 3, it wasn't seen as necessary due to the short length of the games and sonic 3 has a really good saving system even by todays standards.

YES! I have been waiting for this one. Time for BSC to embrace the N.Sanity. Yes, Clancy Brown did voice Cortex in Wrath of Cortex. He voiced Cortex in every game until Twinsanity when Lex Lang took over the role.

Even if cartoon voice actors aren't exactly the hardest people to get for a game, it's still miles above "the guy in the office" policy that the PlayStation and N64 era games were typically victim to. There's an extended version of the crash dance in the Japanese title of Crash 3. Lewis, what the hell was that?

3:05 When people are saying that's an improvement, they're referring to Tawna herself. In the original she was captured without much of a fight. In the remake, she knocks the fuck out of a guy before getting captured. Adds a small (but appreciated) layer to a character who we merely see in one game anyway. The developers didn't need to do that, but it's nice and makes me want to see Tawna in more stuff. The animation being an improvement goes without saying.

That statement about making Coco better than crash with added move sets is exactly the issue I draw with Sonic games that do that, because regardless of what changes were made to make Sonic and Knuckles unique and have different paths in S3&K, Knuckles is still ultimately still just a Sonic, as is Tails.

It was Clancy Brown who voiced Cortex in Crash 4. He stopped voicing Cortex after Nitro Kart. The reason he was canned from voicing the character, was because parents thought his voice was too scary and not child-friendly. Even though that's more for his Uka Uka voice than Cortex.
