Well, if a driver loses a steer tire, they have to speed up and counter steer within seconds of the explosion. The explosion is so loud and disorienting than an inexperienced driver may not know what happened. Those critical seconds lost can be the difference in regaining control or leaving the roadway.

There are at least two good alternate routes in that area. One runs North of I-10, the other South. Either 411th or Wintersburg Rd. Could have gotten you to those alternates.

Okay I’ve never driven a semi but I just commented on how semis get blowouts all the time and they don’t crash. That there’s always double tires so how could this be a blowout? And then your comment says STEER tire. And now I’m wondering what’s a steer tire? Are you talking like a front tire? Like a tire on the cab itself? I didn’t even think of that. There’s not double tires there is there? 😳 So if it WAS a blowout of a steer tire then was it preventable? Are tires supposed to be maintained & inspected by the company mechanics? Not necessarily tire can have a deep cut and you don't realize it, I change a steer tire 2 weeks ago because it was wearing bad and there was a deep cut in the center,,it was so deep they said it couldn't recap,,things happen without you knowing it.

Everyone, Get used to seeing accidents like this. The feds, along with mega-carriers and crooked freight brokers, are transforming the trucking industry into minimum-wage work, and this will be the result as many owner-operators are forced to decide what repairs they will make on their trucks, as they can't afford to make all that are needed. Investigators are leaning towards a blown steer tire being the cause, and only 2 things cause a tire to blow: incorrect tire pressure, or the fact the tire is worn so badly, that simply running over a rock could puncture it.

It's kind of like when you lose control on the ice. You don't steer against it. You steer towards it at first to regain control. The driver in this case probably didn't have enough time to do anything about it though. The truck was shredded.

Most likely the truck had a steering tire blowout and the driver wasn't properly trained on how to regain control of the truck. And hit the brakes causing the truck to go in the direction of the tire that blew. Not good for the driver to do.

Actually, they can and do just come apart. Most steer tires on a tractor trailer have 6,000 pounds of weight on each steer tire. It's why you definetly need to be holding that steering wheel firmly with both hands.

@@jessicaanderson7885 The term 'blow out' is used incorrectly and rather loosely for tires! Usually, something that blows up or blows out is due to overpressure! For tires, there is no overpressure as the tire holds the air inside perfectly fine! Well within the design parameters of the tire. The only reason it deflates is because of a puncture! The air may escape slow or fast but it is never the less a deflation and not a blowout! For a blowout to occur, severe structure damage would have resulted to your vehicle - what exactly was the damage? Was the rim of the tire bent and damage beyond repair? Was the sheetmetal around the tire damaged due to the explosion? If not, then it was not a blow out because nothing blew!

I do amazon relay whit my semi truck and i have 15 years of experience in trucking but everything on trucking are changed on years those Amazon trailer they are good on maintenance and those yellow totes are heavy because i carry on my truck the time to brake is not to good other reason is tire pressure tire explosion because the wear tear or like cheap drivers dont like to pay for a good shoes they both dead so what you going to ask who ......all indicated that they need to investigate using part of the truck or ask the ower if they both was driver not owner operator alot in investigation believe me
