Cam it takes a real man to admit lack of knowledge on anything, you took that to a new level saying you researched the issue on your channel! As always a great video, I’m enjoying watching you settle into your new vehicle. I’m waiting for the Tundra but approval still pending through wife $$$ watch! Might be a little hard to say I’ve had it parked in the shed for ages given it won’t fit!

Hi Cam I’m not a 300 owner so not sure, but I think you will find ATRAC stays on when you change to low range. It’s the VSC that turns off. If it is like my Prado you need to push the TRC button for about 3 sec and only then ATRAC is turned off. In high range pushing the TRC button will turn both VSC and TRC off. Cheers

Have a mate with a 200. He was having zero success following me up a very steep shale gradient, then a light bulb💡 moment hit him. Engaged crawl control, sat back (actually did have a choice, pushed back in seat as it was steep) and let it clamber up, he was so impressed how it worked its way up the gradient. I'm wondering if GWM Tank crawl is as effective, hmm?

Fantastic video, good to see you are learning and teaching at the same time. Keep up the awesome work. FYI The early Nissan 720, Navara early model, had something similar, obviously didn't feather the brakes but did auto drive at set rev's

Hey mate. Great stuff , love the 300. Was wondering if you ever did or thinking about doing a video on how you clean car and van after a trip. There is a few but they heavily marketed and don't really trust the products they recommend and I know you are genuine. Weve only had our van for 2 years and starting to see spots of rust on chassis and manufacturer ofcause says not their problem . And I've used quite a few products and time to make sure it's clean after trips.

Honestly I’ve always been a little crude with washing! Have always just used the cheap supercheap wash and wax. The guys that did my tint also do paint protection and convinced me to buy one of those snow blow cannons so I’ve been using that on the 300 and have been really happy with it!

So with centre diff. You can use it on fly. Dont need to stop or putting into neutral to engage. You need to stop and neutral for low range. Also with crawl control you can deactivate by pushing same button you activated, when you get a grip you can use throttle to speed it out it will just go on automode until you slow down again. If you utilise crawl control system. Its like cheat mode on you can get out pretty sticky situation like nothing. More you use it you will getting better how to utilise the system. Its almost good as having front and rear diff lock, in some cases better.

@@deniseday4613 yes. You drive normal can turn on centre diff on fly. I believe up to 80km/h.
@WildTouring

Yep, realise the centre diff lock can be activated on the fly in high range. Was in neutral because I was shifting into low range to activate crawl control 👍🏼 Didn’t realise I could add throttle input while it was in crawl control though, thanks for that! Pretty impressed with it so far, nice little tool to have at your disposal!

@WildTouring
@WildTouring 4 ай бұрын
I miss the canopy, but maybe not as much as I thought I would. I’ve got the back of the 300 set up pretty well now. I was worried about storage, but I’ve made it all the fit and I’m thrilled with it (will do a vid soon on storage). Honestly, at the moment what I probably miss most about the Dmax is the confidence I had in it. I was so familiar with it- knew exactly where it was on a track, could fix most things that could go wrong and I was 100% confident that it would always get me home. I’m sure I’ll be there with the 300, but it’ll take time to get that comfortable with it. The pros absolutely outweigh the cons though! It’s a beautiful car to drive!

Crawl control and put down some maxtrax, prolly need the extreme ones as I think the wheels would melt the lugs off the originial trax. Wonder how well that would work. Reading the comments here get back down the beach and do some testing, u have lots of ideas and queries from everyone ahah.

You can probably achieve same similar results with most Toyota LC and Prado in the last 15 years - Brake only traction control works very well in Prado 120 and 150 ( have both) - select low and Centre locked- select a throttle position which let you maintain 1500-2500 rpm, and keep it there, let the brake TC click like crazy trying to brake any spinning wheels- and you will slowly crawl out, provide there is still available traction left- computer ( where crawl is available ) will probably just do it better… Toyota’s brilliant brake only traction control is so underrated. Mates pajero sport can’t do it

Is that the same as Downhill Assist.
@WildTouring
@WildTouring 4 ай бұрын
I havnt used downhill assist yet, but from what I’ve heard it works differently to achieve a similar goal- it feathers the brakes to avoid wheels from locking up and sliding, using engine braking to control the speed. Whereas crawl control does the opposite- applies the brakes to the wheels with limited traction, to send drive to the wheels with traction.

21 seconds in... my comment... for what its worth, owner of kitted 200 series, did a WA trip in 2017, mate driving on beach near yardie creek station ( yanno, exmouth ) all was well, no need to drop tyre pressures, then stuck... that was the first time i used crawl control, to my mates astonishment ( he has 79 series ute ) it just popped up out of the sand. we both said faarrqq.... ill stfu now and continue on with this video to see wtf. EDIT: it can be daunting to just take your feet away, as instinct tells you not do so. also, does the 300 have turn assist like the 200 series? if so, go and give that a crack when ya bored heh.
