Which model Roku box among many on amazon I can purchase for connection to my Resound hearing aids?
@HearingClub11 ай бұрын
I'm pretty sure any of them will work
@David-Field.Stuff0111 ай бұрын
As I understand it the Roku box is connecting to your phone. It sends the TV audio to your phone and your phone then sends that audio to your hearing aids. The Roku box is NOT connecting to your hearing aids. This is why the brand of hearing aid does not matter. If you can stream from your phone then the Roku can stream to your TV.

Because I got Philips 9050 hearing aids, I got the TV streaming box free. I've tried it and wasn't really impressed with the sound quality. I had to do a mix of the sound from the hearing aids with the external sound which is easy to do in the TV stream mode of the Hearlink 2 app. However, in the end I feel like the quality of the sound just listening to my TV speaker system without the Philips streaming box is plenty good enough. Thanks for sharing this tip!

So, ordered a Roku Express for $20 on Amazon for my 1080p older somewhat dumb tv,.Hooked it up in 10 minutes, downloaded the Roku app, changed the headphone setting ("private listening") and its great!! As I cut the cord about 8 years ago, I do a lot of KZbin videos, which Roku had on its app list. I no longer have to watch videos on my phone! I suppose the only downside compared to Jabra's TV Streamer ($300) is if I have company and they want to watch TV - but typically not a thing in my home! Can't thank you enough and now subscribing!

I tried this feature on a fire cube and it works sort of. You have to turn off you cell phone or otherwise disconnect the pairing to your cell phone and it connects but turns off the TV speaker. Then you have to disconnect from the fire cube and repair the cell phone to your aids. Waiting for (if ever) Jabra to release the Auracast feature for IPhones.

Hi Brian, It seems the 2 killer issues with the Roku streamer described in this video are (1) no TV sound at same time as streaming and (2) no cable TV streaming, only Roku subscribed TV channels can be streamed. Having just purchased Jabra E20 hearing aids at Costco that supposedly include Auracast (broadcast streaming) and Bluetooth 5.3 ( low energy), I'm wondering if there are any other, perhaps newer, "reasonably priced" streaming boxes that will resolve issues (1) and (2)? I think Auracast support will resolve issue (1). The proprietary Jabra/Resound streamer is still more than $300 CAD and I'm assuming it also resolves issue (2). I'm also not sure it supports streaming to other devices such as headphones, etc or is proprietary to Jabra/Resound devices. If you have any new info regarding this, another video post would be wonderful!! Thanks, Brad

Omg thank you so much! So yes, there are tv streamers for specific Rx Hearing Aids. If you get jabras, you can get the proprietary jabra streamer, the same thing with philips, rexton, they all have their specific streamers. They are $250+ but they WILL allow the hearing aid wearer to get the audio from the TV streamed to their hearing aids and the other person that doesn't wear hearing aids will still hear the audio from the TV so you can BOTH have your own audio and control the volume separately. Maybe I should make a video on this. The 2.99 membership is the one I refer to. That would be huge and definitely help the channel, but it's 2.99 per month, and you can cancel anytime. Everything was going great until the end where you stated that you can't listen through your HA's and still have TV audio so you have to watch TV along to get the benefits of the Roku hack. Am i correct in my understanding?
@HearingClub9 ай бұрын
That is correct. When you are streaming through the hearing aids, it will mute the tv audio.
@allent10346 ай бұрын
Since streaming the sound through my hearing aids mutes the TV speakers, it is useless to me. I usually watch TV with others so they need to hear the TV also. If I am watching alone, I could just turn the TV up rather than streaming it. So bummed.

Cool hack... except I don't seem to be able to control the volume on the HA, not with the tv, not with the HA app on the phone, and not really on the HA either. Weird! Maybe my roku is too old? Anyone else seen this problem with volume? HAs are the new Jabras.
@laobai904111 ай бұрын
BTW, I have this same volume issue both on my android phone and on my iPad, so it doesn't seem to be just an android issue.

😅Can someone hear the TV in the room while you hear it on your hearing aids with the Roku approach? That is an important feature for most of us if not listening solo
@HearingClub11 ай бұрын
Hi Mary! I actually cover this in the video but i guess you missed it. This will mute the TV so it will only work while watching solo.

When screaming to your hearing aids can others still hear the tv?

Not with this method, it will mute the tv.

Only works for programming from Roku, not from your cable source.
@campbellva5 ай бұрын
You should have said up front that putting Roku in listening mode mutes the sound for everyone else. Not very helpful for anyone other than single people watching TV alone. That's why people buy the more expensive devices, so the TV sound is still available to everyone else!
@HearingClub5 ай бұрын
I did say that in the video. You should pay a little more attention ;)
@campbellva5 ай бұрын
@@HearingClub You didn't read what I said. It would have been nice if you'd have mentioned that particular bit of info "up front," like maybe within the first 2 or 3 minutes of your 6 minute intro instead of over 12 minutes into the video.

I don't get this? I wear hearing aids from Costco. The KS-10.0. I stream all the time! Using my smart TV, or Firestick, I just Bluetooth pare directly to my hearing aids. Doesn't everyone do this?? It's super easy to go into settings on my Firestick, turn on paring, and put my hearing aids into paring mode, pare them up, and Voilà! I only do this the first time... Now, my hearing aids just connect automatically.

I actually explain this in the video. Watchnthe entire video and if you still have questions, let me know.
