I’ll try to acquire a price breakdown on this to see how much the concrete cost.

we bought a house 3 1/2 yrs ago and started doing some renovating. ive never been more grateful for doing concrete for the last 30 yrs and learning other trades along the way. i couldnt imagine what it would cost to hire someone to do what im doing. im just paying for materials as i have all the tools a guy could want and i have my winters off. being in the trades as long as i have, im glad i will never have to worry about paying ridiculous prices for someone to build something with questionable quality that i can do myself.

I’ve always been amazed at what people can afford to have built, I can do stuff for the cost of material and I STILL can’t afford it! LOL

I just finished an addition to my garage, 26x24, with a full second story. I hired the concrete which has a floating slab and 4 foot frost wall which cost 17000, the rest which i did all myself brought the total to 30000.I collected many materials over the years, 7 windows all good quality bought on clearance, tools and wire I bought at auction. The costs add up quick.

From what i've researched that price is about right . The average price for a garage with vinyl siding , trussed roof and a monolithic pad or footer with block walls ( whichever you prefer) , is running around $41.00 a square foot, that doesn't include any electrical work , insulation heating , plumbing thats all on top of the price for the garage and the pad is running around $10 to $13 dollars a square foot , so doing the math the garage comes out to , 30x40 = 1200 sq ft x $41.00 = $49,200 for the garage , guessing the pad is around 45x35 that will cost another $18k to $20k , that puts you at around $70k, add the electrical ,heating , insulation , etc., your looking at $100k easy , lot of money for a garage

I forgot those aren't standard height walls so add about another 5-10 % on to the price of the garage

My garage is a ONE CAR GARAGE my bro.. haha! It's only 16x10ft and with all the tools and shit I have it's a bloody nightmare to fit everything into it so now I gotta get creative with some new storage up high even though the ceilings are only 10ft high as well.. I will be able to get some storage up top trhough. The Walls are solid concrete. Only thing is I had a garagew door that lifted when u turned the handle type door but I got rid of tht and built it so I could put a singe front door in and blocked the rest off to keep it warm in Winter. I won't be putting in a stove or owt like that man. I might buy WHAT IS KNOWN AS A superser here in IRELAND. iT'S KINDA LIKE A GAS BOTTLED HEATER BUT THEY ARE AWESOME FOR HEATNG ROOMS THE SIZE OF MY GARAGE AND IT'LL ONLY TAKE 20-25MINS TO GET IT BOILING HOT AND ONE THING i HAVE NOTICED NOW IS THE GARGAE IS COOL IN THE SUMMER NOW AND FAIRLY WARM IN THE WINTER.. The reason I think is bcos I closed off the big door opening and sealed most of it up properly with Plywood painted with special exterior paint I got and inside with ROCKWOOL and OSB board. It's not bad right now but I think I still have some more to do before this winter comes roaring in. I want to seal it all up anywhere thee may be a little air getting in bcos if air can get in then water will find it's way into any of those areas and I need this to last me for the next 15-20yrs. The cost of plywood here is crazy man. We cannot get our hands on the really good plywood. A sheet of Baltic Birch is about 150-160 euros. Tat is completely mental and I will not poay it no matter what anybody thinks. My apologies for my rambling off here my brother. I enjoy the videos. Keep up the great work. 100k FOR TIS GARAGE? mAN THE COST OF THINGS TODAY MUST HAVE U PULLING UR HAIR OUT. That's very expensive, isn't it??

It’s expensive for just being a regular garage, we’ve built a lot of gigantic garages before and they probably weren’t as much as this one. Stuff sure is expensive nowadays! And don’t apologize for rambling, it’s awesome to have interaction with all the different people here…especially from across the pond!

@@MyDIYBuildsI followed your advice on a 24×24 garage I built myself. Everything went smoothly with inspection as well. My next question. Can I frame a 32 wide x 18 long rooms addition? I don't want to use trust mostly because I've never installed them before.

Check with your building inspector to see if you could use lapped joists or if they need to be solid boards.
