Closest I found was one that states you can't cut the head or tail of so that the length and species can be identified. Could you please lmk where this regulation is posted? One important thing everybody: Fish, when Dead, have an involuntary muscle movement when you are handling them. And i know this for sure. I've saw many Dead Fish(Dead for and hour, out the water and head crushed), when being handled, suddenly using Splash! (the magikarp move). that Fish was not alive while being skinned. he might died for the lack of oxygen staying out of the water for too long, but I assure you, he would be moving much more if still alive. the first time I saw a Dead carp moving it freaked me out too! And also, the Fish do not feel pain the same way we do, you can't compare our neural system.

hi dude, i dont get why someone like you doesnt eat fish. Im also a Fisherman and i do eat fish... I would quit being a fisherman if i wouldnt enjoy eating fish.. You ask why? There is simply no legit reason for a human to disturb the inhabitants of the nature, except for gathering food and survival. Except for those reasons there is no other legit reason to disturb the fish by pulling it out with a rod from under the water. In germany c&r is even prohibited by law, since ppl tend to catch fish for no apparent reason... You have to consume the fish you catch in germany if it has an acceptable size...

You're not allowed to fillet fish in Maryland until you're off your boat. You set a terrible example for your followers continually breaking Maryland fishing laws. Part of having a maryland fishing licence is to agree you're not a weekend warrior and know some laws that most of us who have been fishing our whole lives know. It's bad enough you put up a video up fishing the Loch Raven Dam (the most illegal place to fish in maryland) then you're taking rental boats North of the Dulaney Valley bridge (Illegal, only boats with permits are allowed north of the bridge), and now this? You guys are just asking for trouble.

+Eugen Don The legit reason is its a challenge to catch fish, and its a fun hobby dude! By tossing it back the fish lives for many more years and makes 100's more fish! It dosnt disrupt the nature any more than a bird eating a fish. Some places ive caught the same fish 3 years in a row! I never eat fish I catch, if any thing ill buy some fish that someone already killed, so I can keep c & R for years to come.

Ryan Nygren i think that the combination of a dull tackle box filet knife, a flimsy cutting board on a life jacket, being on a little boat on water, and the fish trying to flop away made it a little tougher. lol im sure he knows how to filet a crappie, and he did a pretty good job under those conditions.

You are right the circumstances were not ideal, that being said the knife looked sharp and he blatantly filleted the top half of the fish. He could have had at least a fillets equivalent of meat, had he taken the bottom half.

+Ryan Nygren the bottom half has the rib cage in it, for it to be a boneless filet you gotta cut it off anyway so he just saved himself a step
