By the way, I think the original name of this Filcao pen is Filcao Kika, or at least it looks very similar in shape to my Filcao Kika. Also, a Filcao Kika is allegedly on display at the German Fountain Pen Museum, and it is said to be the smallest functioning fountain pen in the world, although I know for a fact that it's not the shortest one because I have a shorter, yet thicker one, brand unknown. But Filcao had a number of mini pens, and information about the different models is rather sparse, so I don't know for sure whether yours is a Kika.

Oooooh this video just came on randomly again, but I have (what I think is) a great idea hahaha. Just a simple little adjustment to one of the pens. I think it would be so cool if, on the Uffizi, the barrel could just be another vial. So instead of having to eye dropper the ink into the barrel, you could just uncap and attach another vial. I was just thinking how, yes you could have 3 inks, but if you wanted to change it, where would you put the ink that you take out of the barrel? You would need a 4th vial .. unless the barrel is a vial! Then you could just unscrew it, cap it, and throw on a different vial. There's gotta be a way!!

Thats interesting about the shellac in India ink. What you hear online is usually that the pigment particles are too big for fountain pen feeds (thus the need for micropigments in fp inks).
@InkyRocks3 жыл бұрын
I find that difficult to understand as I use some weird inks, that are glass pen only, that on purposely use large pigment particles. In one of my videos, you can actually see the large particles drip down in water. When those clog up, it just takes very long soaking and a sonic cleaner to get it cleaned out. With shellac, you are just out of luck! The kickstarter page also says that shellac is a problem. But in the end, I'm not putting that stuff in my pens hahaha!
@bradleyh80443 жыл бұрын
@@InkyRocks I'd be interested in seeing some tests of this. Maybe the pigment size thing is one of those bits of inherited "knowledge" from the distant fpn past. Maybe it contributes a little to clogging and flow issues but its really the shellac that's the true problem?
@InkyRocks3 жыл бұрын
@@bradleyh8044 Yes, it's probably a combo of both. With the pigment size, you at least have some hope of fixing it. With a shellac problem, the solvents needed to clean that up is harmful for your pen.

Ooo, these are some to keep in mind if any of my current pens befall a terrible fate. X) (Not that I want them to, of course not! I just go by buy more pens only when they're lost lost and/or broken.) I hope someone can take a picture of a Filaco Mini Slim with an Aihao Mini Fountain Pen sometime, just for size comparisons.

I had to look up the Aihao--had not seen it before. It looks like the Filcao is about the size of the cartridge on the Aihao. The Aihao looks pretty cool!

@@InkyRocks Sounds surprising! XD It's sounding like it's roughly the same size, and that's still pretty small. Edit: Do you have measurements? I just realized I have a ruler closeby to measure my minis. :)

Question please. How many pens do you have ? Thanks.

I don’t know as I sell and give a lot away and get many for gifts. I’m afraid if I count up how many I have, I’ll scare myself. But compared to many big collectors, I don’t have that much and I have big holes in my collection, especially in European pens and high end pens.

I bought a Wing Sung 698 in the demonstrator version with the Lucky 14 K nib. I wrote nine words with the pen after the first inking and the tipping material broke off one of the tines with a tiny splash. The nib is unusable now. It was an ebay purchase and I requested a refund. ☹
@InkyRocks3 жыл бұрын
Wow, that's a bummer. Did you end up getting your refund? I got mine thru AliExpress and had no problem with it at all. But I had a problem with another order on another item and they refunded me right away.

@@InkyRocks I am working with the seller who just agreed to send me another Lucky nib. I offered to send the broken one back if he wishes. The nib weighs about .46 grams and is worth about $17 for the metallic value of the gold. Ebay makes it a bit safer to order online, especially with high-volume sellers. Refusing to close the ebay refund request until the issue is fully resolved helps too. The only reason I bought this particular pen was for the nib and I made that clear. I think this will work out in the end. A mini-drama and an international one at that! Thanks for the reply, it helped ease the pain. 😃

@@Kenjiro5775 well, that's a positive. If they are willing to work with you, it's a step in the right direction! Good Luck!
