Near the Colosseum on May 30, 2011. Traffic in Rome looks pretty chaotic but somehow it just works.

Some say that, to this day, that tram still has not moved.

Must be frustrating for the tram driver to have to follow the tracks. Maybe this is what drivers in Rome need, a track that they are stuck on.

I rented a car for rome worst nightmare ever, absolutely no place to park anywhere, traffic is complete chaos, dead ends everywhere, you never know if you are going in the right direction, the whole city is a maze.. plus the wife screaming at me to buy stuff at via del corso, most miserable and stressful vacation ever!

In the late years there was a lot of troubles in Rome. Past left administration's of the city left Rome almost in ruins. Today the city is recovering, but I think it will take some time to fix the traffic problem. Moreover, consider that this city is more than 2700 years old and basically the whole center is a sort of museum. We can't simply destroy things there and surely Roman's back in time did not planned and built many parking for modern days cars. 😏 So, deal with it. If you have to visit Rome. Don't rent a car, just use local public transport. I was able to visit easily the whole historical center of the city in 3 days of walking without hurrying. And I have also destroyed that pair of shoes but it was definitely worthy. Then just be suspicious about people that comes to you to sell stuff and you're fine. Scammers are everywhere in every cities. But normally they survive just with these innocent non malicious foreign tourists. So don't be innocent, be malicious.

We didn't watch long enough to find out but I guess the traffic jam eventually cleared up by itself.

@davidghiro992 жыл бұрын

doesn't help that for every 15 cars you have fucking 40 meter tour bus.
@romamegalopolis4699 жыл бұрын
firozfuryu That is not a bus but a tram, which travels on trucks just like a train does.
@filthyflank9 жыл бұрын
Roma Megalopolis Fair enough, but forgetting the tram I counted at least 5 other large tourist buses coming to or through the intersection. Does that tram seem to be part of the problem? It would be ironic since mass transit is supposed to be a solution to traffic congestion. I guess this is what happens when you try to shoehorn modern infrastructure into a city that was never built for it.
