One of the best advices you can take is that if you want to improve yourself, the best way is to imagine this better version of yourself and "fake it till you make it", so logically, if your job is lying about being someone you are not, you will eventually become that person, no matter how disgusting.

My sociology teacher was an undercover drug officer. He didn't have to use them because he presented himself as a a sociopathic gangbanger. He was accused of being a cop at every turn but he was a master of persuasion. He would say "You've bought half of mexico from me. You'd be in prison for life by now, if I was a cop." He knew exactly what to say, as he'd been a cop for years by that point. He studied criminals to better his skills

A retired NYC police lieutenant told me that the "War on drugs" was lost in 1975. He said as long as there is the demand, there will always be the supply. On the other hand, I read a book once that said, the average person working in McDonalds makes more money in 10 years than the average drug dealer. A drug dealer on average can work about 2 years before the cops catch up with him. When arrested he has to come up with cash for a lawyer who will get him a reduced sentence. After he gets out, they'll keep an eye on him and x cons have difficulty in finding work.
