Curious fact, the fes, or fez like it’s called in Italy, is the official hat of the Bersaglieri unit in the army for the fatigue uniform ( not the same fes as described in the video but a version with soft fabric)

Many of these laws we have in İsveççe as well! like the camera law, prohibition against advertising alcohol etc. Infact, here you can only buy hard licqour at pubs/restaurants, or in specific, state-owned stores.

Due to these prohibitions and the high prices of alcoholv many people turn to smuggled alcohol and this is very dangerous, from blinding people to killing them. I am very disturbed by this issue

It's not. Behind all the crazy laws, there is 'unofficial' English mandate. After WW1, they've changed our calender to Znst calendar. Half of the months come from there (Nisan- Nisan, Temmuz- Temuz, Agustos- Av, Eylul- Ilul..) . They've changed the scripts so that we cannot read or understand the old official documents. Our offical weekends turned into Saturday and Sunday, where a Christian can go his church or Jew go to Sinagog freely. Our man cannot even take time off for Cuma prayer. They banned Fes so that we don't recall old times. We are under pressure to forget our past, and my brainwashed people think that being secular is being privileged.

Very interesting but I don't like the idea of spot checks for ID. We also carried a Book of Life in S. Africa with all personal details, medical conditions, gun and driving licences, voting records. A bit like Big Brother is watching you!

The 1984 reference was great, i feel that way too sometimes. I think this ID carrying business is still going on because it is a bit behind the times. The new IDs that the majority of people have even include fingerprints maybe we may not need to carry IDs in the near future

As for Atatürk and talking about him , I agree no one have the right to insult or to degrade any person. It doesn’t matter who he is, but do not criticize him and keep that under a lot, especially if he is a public figure that’s only dictator country do that, beside when you moved to alcohol and then you said 50% agree, and 50% don’t agree, you did not give us the percentage of the people that agrees with criticizing Ataturk or not , So in one way or another, you being selective into explaining your point of view toward these laws, and that’s it is not being mutual, but rather being bias, I guess you are one of the 50% that disagree into criticizing Atatürk , When you explain to foreigners about your rules, you should be completely neutral in your explanation, because in the western world, we have complete democracy, and we can detect very easy if your person is being a democratic or being bias, decide does that law applies toward the successive president after him, as well as to the existing president or it is only for that person, to me, that thing looks like exactly the laws in Europe against talking about the holocaust, when you are not sure about something you always keep a taboo on it and many laws to shit people mouth, because there is something wrong about that specific subject, And again that’s one form of Dictatorship

US here: depending on the state, the drinking laws on sales differ, but overall the drinking age is 21. As for the flag, we can use the flag as a cover for tables, they can have it in clothes, but there are very strict rules on respecting our flag in how it’s raised in poles, if it’s damaged. As for the headgear, we don’t have restrictions, and I happen to have a fez that I wear; I got it in Morocco! And because we have freedom of speech, here, we can say whatever we want about our politicians, as everyone has seen all the trash talking that goes on in our country!

Many countries have similar rules and it saves a lot of hassle. If you think that not beeing required to be able to identify oneself is an advantage think again. If you run into law enforcement they will find out who you are. If it takes a long time to do that, guess who's time gets wasted.

Besides, if Turkey wants to be in EU, at some point will have to... offend the Lira by accepting Euro as currency. On this last aspect I can understand why changing one's historical currency with something artificial and alien, can be felt like an offence. As for the rest, no. Personally, I consider the giving respect to the flag is much more important. Because the flag is the nation. Türkiye is a secular republic, should we take the whole day off for the noon prayer? The most dominant reason for determining the weekend holiday is to keep up with the global situation. You are working on Sunday and you are going to import something, that day is a holiday in the country you want to import, you cannot even imagine how much work will be disrupted. Why should we wear a fez that doesn't belong to us? Wearing a fez actually distances us from our true self. Being secular is of course a privilege. You can't even imagine what the women who were killed because of their hair in Iran and another woman in Afghanistan who couldn't even see sunlight went through. Even today, religion being included in politics negatively affects the situation of the country, and I cannot even imagine what we would be like if we were a non-secular state.
