Yeah. Glad you did this. After seeing you play the guitar part, it’s only natural to watch this. And seeing you try to count, as I said in my previous post, drum teachers and even Mike Portnoy struggled to get the time signatures. There is a pattern there but it’s not in your face and changes later. Watching the drumeo video of Mike Portnoy trying to learn this is hilarious.
@CrazyAwesomeАй бұрын
I should definitely check that out then, LOL that sounds hilarious 🤣
@MetalMann-de3xiАй бұрын
I explained the same thing. Mike Portnoy is a perfectionist as well, and you can tell he hated screwing it up. Give it to Drumeo though, Mike Portnoy is a fan of music and he even knew the song, he just never tried to break it down before, and they also wanted to challenge him, and they chose the perfect song. I just hope Carey will accept Portnoy's challenge to learn Dance of Eternity. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if Danny was a Dream Theater fan as Mike is of Tool. I'm still waiting for Drumeo to make it happen.

The electronic pads with the geometric patterns are Mandala multi-zone triggers. The pad out front to the right of the roto tom is an OG KORG Wavedrum. It's the one making the Tabla sound. It is a hybrid electronic pad and they are highly programmable. I got to see Danny in Portland last night playing with the band Beat. It is two members of the band King Crimson from the 80's with Danny doing his take on one of his idols Bill Bruford. Bill used an acoustic set with electronic triggers and a remote hi hat mounted in the center. Bruford also used large roto toms so Danny's setup and playing is informed by Bruford. Steve Vai was playing the Robert Fripp part at the Beat show and his solo on the song The Sheltering Sky was pretty amazing.

What impresses me is the insane drum fills mixed into this odd timing flawlessly. Since he says he doesn't count, he has to know every hit in order to come back in on time. I don't know the time signature of this song but i did hear they used a lot on this album based around the number 7.

Not sure if you mention it but to add another layer of complexity is that he will adjust the force of the hits as well to fit perfectly with the song. I think it would be called piano to fortissimo(maybe?) lol but piano being a soft hit and fortissimo being a hard hit. Pretty crazy stuff

You can actually pull this song off with 4/4, which is the base of all rhythms, but it will sound funny because you can't hit all the accents when counting 4/4, but it's basic 4/4....ex...when the Tom break down comes on, he's rolling with 6/8 polyrythms that are syncopated, but if you watch his high hat, it's always 4/4 timing
@CrazyAwesome27 күн бұрын
