Oh my goodness! This has to be the best pattern ever for all levels of crocheters. I'm quite slow when crocheting but this pattern puts paid to that! I am whipping up a shawl so fast it's amazing. I'm going to use this for other projects I want to make for Christmas gifts. I should have all my gifts done in record time. I'm so pleased I found this video but I'm also going to use the written pattern, too. Thank you so much for providing this. I, for one, really appreciate it. 😊

Such beautiful shawls! I have so much Red Heart yarn, including ombre..but you're right, its a rough feeling yarn. I've never tried washing anything I've made from it, as I usually gift everything I make. However I'm making this shawl for me. I do plan to make 1 using some of my RH ombre, but I'm currently making it using Red Heart Gumdrop thread. Its much softer than the regular RH. My skin is sensitive due to Lupus, and I'm always looking for soft thread that doesn't cost a fortune. Thank you so very much for sharing your lovely patterns, you're talented and generous.

Just made a second one in the gray ombré Red Heart for my mom. She requested it after she saw the purple one I made. It’s gorgeous. Also Sylvia, in case I haven’t told you before, what gave me the confidence to try making my first wearable was you telling me that if I made a mistake, to keep going, that’s it’s okay. Well, in the gray pocket shawl I just finished, I had 7 ‘mistakes’ not bad enough to re-do and do you know what?…I can’t even find them now that’s it’s done! For a Virgo, it was nice to have permission to not feel like it has to be perfect and then in the end, it looks pretty perfect after all! Thanks again. This is a fun and easy pattern.

I am a little confused on the first row. You said you did 54 stitches(multiple of 9) plus 2 (turning chain). It looks like you skip 1 chain after doing 2dc in next 2 stitches. I looked to see if someone mentioned this before asking but I see someone ask how many dc's are in the 1st row and you say 36 stitches. What happened to the other 18? It looks like you have an extra stitch all along that row which would not make the 1st row straight. Techically does it even out when you work the border? BTW I love how you worked the side border.
@CrazyCoolCrochet2 жыл бұрын
RIght from the beginning of the first row I explain that you are skipping a chain between the 2 dc's. At 3:54 I explain it again. The dc counts would not include the skipped ch's. I hope this helps.
@evelyntobias80812 жыл бұрын
@@CrazyCoolCrochet I understand you are skipping a chain. My confusion lies in that you end up with those extra chains not making your 1st row straight. Usually when we do for example 2 dc in a stitch, you skip one stitch make it even out. I know this pattern is different but don't we end up with the extra stitches when we not work into that ch 1? I guess I don't understand why are we even making that ch 1 if we don't have a stitch above to match it as far as stitch counts.

It's a pretty one for sure. I wonder if there are softer ombre's out there?

Uhm. You're welcome? You do know you can skip right to the tutorial? No need to be rude. Having said that...I went back and rewatched it and yep...way too much unnecessary chatter. Still, you could bring it to my attention in a kinder way.

@Simone23 Thank you for that. I appreciate your support! To clarify where the rudeness was coming from...not to excuse her, rude is rude...but I have since cut out about 20 minutes of unnecessary chatter at the beginning. I was trying a new tactic to get people to watch longer. I think it backfired. LOL. I tend to get too chatty like I'm doing right now...:) Thank you Simone.

Is there a way for the words to not cover what you’re doing? It’s a distraction when trying to follow along

THank you for the suggestion. I will keep that in mind going forward.

@@CrazyCoolCrochet BUT!!! I am on my third shawl! You are very clear and make following along very easy. I was scared it would take me a while. But once I got the hang of it and paid close attention, it came out beautiful and in under a day. Being a beginner, I tend to go slow but am hoping to get faster with practice. I’m still having a really hard time reading instructions. Any advice for that?

@@Born_Again_Viking That's awesome! I'm so glad you still found the tutorial helpful. As for reading instructions, reading patterns, it helps to learn the basic abbreviations. Then it's a matter of finding pattern writers that follow the "standards" and are not simply making up their own shorthand and expecting others to know what they are trying to say. I learned "back in the day", in the 70's, when there were only professional patterns available. It was all standardized and easy to follow. I suggest starting here: www.craftyarncouncil.com/standards/how-to-read-crochet-pattern
