This was an EXCELLENT crochet tutorial that I truly enjoyed watching for this beautiful pocket shawl. I like that it was filmed up close so it was easy to see your stitches and follow along. Your explanations were also clearly articulated, and clearly demonstrated. My only critique would be that a lighter yarn maybe beige would have been easier to see but it was filmed up close so it wasn’t hard to follow along just sometimes a little confusing due to the dark yarn. But overall I really liked this tutorial and enjoyed watching. I have never made one with the chunky yarn so I am excited to start one. Thank you for sharing your love for crochet and providing a beautiful pattern and EXCELLENT TUTORIAL. God bless you and your family this Christmas and best wishes for a blessed, healthy and prosperous new year in JESUS Name. 🙌🙏🙌❤️🥰

Will this look the same if I do a regular (yarn over instead of yarn under) single/half double crochet? Yarn over is way too ingrained into my brain and whenever I try a project yarn under I revert and have to frog waaaay too often.
@CrazyCoolCrochet3 жыл бұрын
You can do it however you want. There may be a bit of difference in tension which might affect the overall size. However, with this pocket shawl, exact sizing isn't crucial.

Well I made it but it didn’t come out as good as yours..let me ask you did yours get wider at the bottom

A lot of factors play into the outcome. Tension is probably the biggest culprit. If your tension is consistent throughout it should not get wider at the bottom.

@@CrazyCoolCrochet I am struggling with how to do a 1/2 dc into the chain three turning at the end of Row 5. I also purchased your written pattern, but can’t seem to figure that stitch out.
@CrazyCoolCrochet4 ай бұрын
@@lisaamrhein4828 At 12:06 it shows exactly how to do it. You are working the last hdc into the turning chain from the previous row. It even shows how to enter the hook into the 2nd ch of the ch 3 turning ch. Don't overthink it. Just jab the hook INTO the turning chain to work the hdc.

@@CrazyCoolCrochet I think I am confused because I am looking for a full stitch (2 loops) to insert into and if I am inserting into the second chain am I just inserting into the back loop? Or am I combining first and second chain to get the two loops? Hope that makes sense.
@CrazyCoolCrochet4 ай бұрын
@@lisaamrhein4828 Ah, ok. That actually is a good question that I've never heard before. Never mind about the "second chain". What you want to do is ensure you inserting the hook under 2 loops in the turning chain as you would with most stitches. I hope this makes some sort of sense.
@lindarodriguez75964 жыл бұрын
Can you do this with regular yarn
@CrazyCoolCrochet4 жыл бұрын
Assuming by "regular" yarn you mean not bulky...yes, you can use a #4. However, it will result in a much smaller pocket shawl. You'll need to adjust for size. Since I didn't design this with a #4 yarn I don't have a pattern ready for that. Thank you for watching!

Without seeing what you are doing, I can't give you a proper answer. My first guess would be your tension is too tight and/or your hook size might not be right.
