When I’m out rock hounding and see rocks in situ where they could have been sitting there, untouched by humans, for hundreds of years or more, it’s humbling to think about everything those rocks have been through in their ‘lifetime’ before I, an insignificant creature in the grand span of time, come along and pluck it from its ancient bed. Seems only right to say ‘sorry’ sometimes. ♥️

You should make yourself a looky bucket. Get a sturdy plastic bucket, cut out the bottom, leaving about an inch of the base all the way around. Cut a circle of perspex a bit larger than the circle you cut out and stick it to the bottom of the bucket with silicone. Now you have a clear view of the rocks that normally are hard to see due to movement on the surface. Its a game changer when rockhounding in flowing water. X

I forgot to mention what volcano these creeks are cutting through. It’s the remnants of the Tweed Shield Volcano, it’s only a young 23 Million years old but its erosion caldera is the largest in the Southern Hemisphere. It stretches over 100 kilometres (62 miles) in diameter, and man it made some pretty rocks. It, with the occurrence of La Niña make for a great day of rockhounding. Some pretty cool finds in the rejuvenated creek beds. The warming weather there will be great for hunting stones. I'm under a Winter Weather Advisory here fot the mountains in Washington state, so our waterways are being churned for future hunts here. Have a good one and don't fall in! 😉

I would love if the green stuff is chrysocolla, or even if the indicate it could be close by. I’ve never found it before and it’s such a beautiful material. WOW so many chunks I would of investigated, you passed on so much I would of had to look at further, yup I am greedy HAHAHHA There was one in the wall, looked like reddish but bits of micro crystal too. Good on Ya, mate! Another excellent video! So it looks like that green material, the porous and the smooth, could possibly be chlorite, green opalite, or possibly green jasper. Or perhaps a combination of some or all of the above, in various stages. We get a lot of very similar looking material over here in the California desert. Some of it can be polished. Beautiful finds great eye I agree with the other person could be copper but a couple pieces could possibly be a form of jade when u cut it I’m sure it will show more of what I could be, I have one that is green but full off zinc awesome adventure thank you

4:30 what I thought was volcanic breccia I found I guess is actually chalcedony! Awesome finds. My creek is all small rocks but I live by Shawnee so hopefully I can find something there

Oh well that’s great news man! Keep exploring and most times we’ve found that further upstream is when things start to get bigger, and further away from the access points is where things get less picked through. Hopefully anyway haha!

Annaaaaaaaa! Okay, so I think I just need to bight the bullet and buy another pan. I had one but gave it to my father in law who lives in a place called Gympie (a gold baring area just north of us by 3 hrs) so he could go looking for gold. But I reckon testing these creeks could be a whole bunch of fun. Thing is, I never see black sand. Does it have to have black sand for gold to be around???? I’m even more of a Rookie where gold finding is concerned. Haha! Much love my Scottish friend!!!!

@@Rookie_Rockounding most of the time gold will be with the black sand but not always. I would suggest digging down on one of those gravel bars. The inside bend is a good place to start. It's a bit more back breaking but you never know until you try. Will's raffle is going live in an hour btw. 😁❤

Good luck getting him out with a gold pan, i've been on at him for years, He even gave his pan away so he had one more excuse, prospectors beard and all that water but would rather hunt chalcedony even though he could make some good finds in a gravel bed before he gets down to the gravel. Gold is everywhere in every waterway, the problem is finding somewhere that has plenty of it.

2:13 you figure out what this weird plastic /opal silica stuff is I'll thank ya forever, I got loads of it all mixed in around here , comes in many shades , very fractured most times, waxy almost too light for chalcedony , more opal like, ive bene naming it and renaming it , each time not sure if im right, locals keep calling it common opal, ...you know how it goes, .. but we hunt the parallels of the ring of fire and our main zones are identical most the time so im sure your picking up and puzlling over the same stuff. glad to see the rain , the gold miners will be stoked also I imagine ; )

Haha! Oh man I’m the worst at figuring out what things are. I’m so not sure what to make of it. I’ve got it and the other rocks soaking in some citric acid and then I’ll be windowing it hopefully to get a better look. It’s from a Thunder egg but what it actually is is confusing haha. Man I love that we’re questing and hounding the same ring of fire. It’s sorta like we’re connected through volcano s brother. Haha! I’ll keep y’a posted on what I come up with and I’ll show it in the cutting video to see if it helps with the id a little bit better. Sending much love bro! Those green rocks are stunning!!! Just a guess, but could some of that green be copper?? Whatever it is it’s fabulous! You had some really different finds in this video. And since this video turned into a 2 parter, I’m thinking it was a pretty fantastic day. I’m looking forward to the next post...and whatever you do with those green stones!
