Fun fact... in the US, there's a motorcycle "gang" called BACA (Bikers Against Child Abuse) that will escort families to court when their children are testifying against abusers and will even camp out outside their house before, during, and after the trial to make sure the children aren't harmed. If asked, they'll even sit in the court room during the trial to make sure the kid isn't intemidated/harmed by the person(s) on trial. If I could, I would make an anonymous donation to them.

I used to work at a hotel where the local BACA members would meet up every few months. My favorite stories were the ones when a kid would call them for help, so they'd go pick them up on their bike, no questions asked. Risking getting charged for kidnapping because a kid said they're scared is a badass move.

I was a BACA kid, growing up. They give you a cool nickname (you get to decide if you're good with it or if you want to pick your own), for anonymity at functions, and they take kids camping and host rallies for them. I even got a cool leather jacket with my nickname as a patch on the back. It was absolutely the best. They offered help when no one else believed me. They're why I lived past 14.

Just looked up that Minnie Cox story, unfortunately the law stopped Teddy Roosevelt from keeping the post office closed and it had to be re-opened in the end without Cox resuming it's control. But he did indeed keep her on the pay role and did close the post office down for as long as he could. When it was re-opened Roosevelt ordered that none of the mob that forced her out be allow to assume the post master position. It is a very interesting turn of events.

Yea I remember the one about a father .. all his coworkers sacrificed their sick days (_had_ to sacrifice their sick days) so that he could be with his young daughter sick with cancer and in chemotherapy. That was shipped as a "feelgood" story too, until someone called it out for what it is: absolute dystopia. (iirc it was cancer and chemo .. I'm not 100% sure, but I deffy know it was something serious up with his child)

Some might call him a criminal for stealing a car, I call him a hero. The parents who left the baby in the car are the criminals. I hope he still stole their car after making sure the baby was safe and made a lot of money selling it for parts. Speaking of really weird car thefts... my cousin had his car stolen a few years ago. His car at the time was a piece of crap, not worth anything, the ignition was so busted you could actually start it with a screwdriver. The drivers side door was busted so he had to get in on the passenger side and scoot over the stick to get to the driver's seat. When his car was stolen he had just brought a brand new stereo system that was worth more than the car itself. The stereo system had been removed and was left behind in the parking space where the car had been stolen from. The only valuable thing in the entire car was left behind and the thief drove off with the shitty car. The police eventually found the car about a week later and returned it to my cousin. The only thing that would make this story even better is if the car had been returned in better condition than when it was taken but at least it was no worse off than it was originally and it's still funny that the thief actually took the time to physically remove the one thing that was actually worth any money when he could have just stolen the car with the stereo still in it.

If you perform poorly at FPS games (since I don't want to be an ass) but aren't sexist, it doesn't mean you are sexist and you just don't know about it. It is also supposed to refer to 'drinking responsibly' as in *not abusing it.* Meaning not allowing it to become the only way you know how to relax, have fun, or developing a physical dependence on it. Or valuing your drinking habits more than your health, safety, greater happiness, or those same things for your loved ones. People just tend to interpret it as meaning not being reckless when under the influence, because Americans have somehow normalized social, emotional, and/or physical dependence on alcohol, as long as a person isn't the caricature of 'alcoholic.' So, don't do stupid or dangerous stuff under the influence, or make it so that you are dependent on alcohol. That's what they mean by "drink responsibly."

Sorry, but that burglary story with a man willingly going to prison, so that his wife can get medical attention shows two things: a) the love of the man for his wife and b) the worst medical care system the world has. Something like that should be illegal. Yep, nothing brings people together like a common enemy is .... a tool we actually use within our profession in social work at school in Germany. Usually not saying it that way, but if you have a class with terrible and worse team spirit, the easiest and fastest way to build it up is by creating a common enemy. That's also one of the reasons why these sports events happen in which classes play against each other, or schools. The only problem is, that this is short-term "spirit" and needs to be build up further, which is often not done.

I've done the "avenger" thing in a bar once. Not at the level of what has been describe. In a regular club, I was on the dance floor with mainly a group of girls. One of the shy one got targetted by a guy. He was simply dancing back at back with her and closing the distance so they touch. I saw that she was getting inconfortable. So, as soon as he gave a little bit a space, I switch position with here and let him grind his ass on mine. Eventually, he look back, realise that I wasn't a cute girl and he gave me some space.

I love the death party. I have a degenerative issue with my bones (some parts are necrotic and crumbling) causing something similar to osteoarthritis and as I grow older it will become significantly worse and probably quite unbearable at a not-so-old-age. I live in a country where euthanasia is uncommon but not illegal, so that's more or less the way I want to go. Essentially be at my own wake, but in a positive happy sense and then well, you know.

I have some pretty bad nerve damage and childhood trauma... I was abused when I was younger and with me once the nerves start sending the pain signal to the brain they don't stop. For most people what I suffered through isn't even considered a big deal because "it only hurts for a second" or "they won't even remember it" but despite not even having memories of the abuse I do still suffer from the pain over 30 years after it happened. I even have medical trauma which was justifies as being necessary for my health when I later found out that painless alternatives have been publicly available since the mid 80's which means they had the technology to vaccinate me without painful injections my entire life but never thought it was important enough to actually tell my parents that option existed even as I was seeing a therapist for attempted suicide due to the constant pain I was in. The therapist even told me "that's just a normal part of growing up" rather than recommending painless treatments that were already available I was basically told to just suck it up and deal with it. Even if they had switched over it would be too late as the damage had already been done. And ever sense I learned that needle-free vaccines exist I've been trying to educate people that the option is available cause doctors will never even tell patients that it's an option unless you specifically ask them for painless vaccination options. It should be stand practice by now as needle injections are an outdated technology that use to be necessary but aren't anymore. They even have patches for the Covid Vaccine available which are safer and more effective than the injection. Anyway... where I live suicide, or assisted medical suicide which is what you're describing, are illegal regardless of any quality of health issues the person might be suffering from. Doctors would lose their license if they provided the service you're talking about. The best I can hope for is that they honor my DNR, the right to refuse life saving medical treatment, they can't do anything to directly cause my death, only allowed to indirectly let me die by doing nothing. The closest place I could legally qualify for the same procedure would be Washington state, I've looked it up, but it's also super freaking expensive and I'd likely have died of natural causes anyway before I could ever afford it. I live in a word that both tortures me to the point of wanting death while also telling me death isn't the answer. Well then freaking do something about improving the living conditions so I don't go to bed every night hoping that I won't wake up. My pain gets worse every year and the only thing keeping me going is the hope that my story would some day save others from having to live like this. I wouldn't wish even a second of the pain I'm in on my worst enemy. And yeah, I totally agree with the sentiment, we're all going to die some day eventually anyway so it might as well be on our own terms.

Former convenience store worker here, back in late 90's. We used to have a standing policy to try not to let surplus food go to waste. I remember once sending a starving family home with an entire pizza box loaded with mixed slices, a plethora of donuts, and a candy bar each for the three kids (my night manager paid for those herself, slipped them into the bag as I wrote off the 'losses'). Did this a lot, usually before closing. Three months later, rich arsehole buys our store, we were required to throw out excess at the end of day. That day, my night manager, three other employees, and I quit. That dude had no idea how hard rural poor folk had it where I was at the time (no food banks or suchlike), and a few people for sure would have gone hungry if it weren't for someone doing the humane thing. So, my night manager, upon hearing this, said 'With all due respect sir, which is none, fuck you I quit." I called him a 'compassionless, rich douchebox whom, if there was any justice in life, would die broke hungry and alone.' No idea what happened to that guy, but my night manager and I did 'midnight raids' of the pizza and fresh donuts for three weeks straight. I miss my night manager there, she was badass.

My grandfather had a chaotic good story that's kind of sweet. Back then in Germany there was a severe crisis and the price for potatoes was so high that normal people couldn't afford them. And many farmers actually took advantage of the situation to make lots of money. My grandfather worked for the local telecommunication center and therefore was often on the road checking the phone lines. When he learned that a farmer nearby was stacking potatoes, he paid him a visit to "check the phone lines" while a few colleagues opened the door to the storages. When he went back home, he got his wife and children (my father included) and they all drove to the farm in the middle of the night and stole the potatoes. They only kept two bags for themselves and gave everything else to the neighbors, to friends and other people who were too poor. When the police started to investigate, nobody said anything. When I asked my father if my grandpa did this only one time, he chuckled and told me "He grew up as a poor orphan and knew how to survive. He was an honest and very hard-working man, but he also knew how to outsmart others."

The bird one is so wholesome. My friend messaged a few days ago a blue Jay had dropped an robin egg in her yard. I told her I'd come check it. No nest anywhere and the egg was clear when a light was shone through so no dead chick inside. Told her I give a shot hatching it but there's a chance it's already dead or a dud egg. Anyway 3 days later in a little basket with a small heat lamp on a thermostat and the egg is growing! It was a quite a few robberies between their house and their neighbor's house within a couple of weeks that compelled her and her sisters to leave a note (like true queens) by their silverware because, you know, its like my mom also always says; that the robbers around those places are dumb because the people in the bad neighborhoods don't own any stuff that's valuable, so the most you're getting is silverware. Basically the note told anyone else who tried to rob them that they were wasting time they could be spending getting a job at the Dairy Queen down the road that even paid a dollar above minimum wage that could pay for their own set of silverware, to rob people who didn't have anything worthwhile to pawn off to buy essentials like food and water or keep a roof above their family's heads anyways. After that she doesn't remember getting anything robbed from their house or their neighbors houses for a while either so maybe the robber took their advice and got a job at Dairy Queen 😂

3:20 a hospice nurse actually responded to this (Hospice Nurse Penny). She said that it was actually cruel of him to put his DYING wife in the position where she couldn't pass PEACEFULLY. By pulling her out of hospice (assuming she was on hospice), she didn't get the care she could've gotten that would've made her comfortable during her last hours (for example, painkillers, moisturising her mouth, a chance to say goodbye to loved ones in a peaceful way, etc.). Keep also in mind that a dying person has a very hard time moving or could be unresponsive, so I even question about her consent to the whole thing. He also just made it worse by giving her meth.
