I remember seeing a commenter here estimated the measurements, but I looked through all of the comments and couldn't find it. I have made this recipe several times for me and my family have loved it every time. So here is an estimate of the recipe, feel free to adjust it to personal taste. about 4-6 cloves of garlic, add more for a more garlicky taste, or less. about 1/4 cup of soy sauce 3/4 cup water 1/3 cup sesame oil and a few tablespoons of peanut butter. Just a reminder, you can adjust any recipe to your liking, because not everyone likes the same things. I've added green onion, chili flakes, and much more.

I just tried this using the measurements shown in the pinned comment and i highly recommd you to use LESS soy sauce. 4oz is way too much and your noodles will become really salty even if you add big chunks of peanut butter at the end. also i would add less sesame oil then 1/3 cups.
@majoras51 Жыл бұрын
I saw that and was immediately like "WHAT" and you can see it too. I think shes on point the quantities were just a little off
@RevTrevNFL5 ай бұрын
I was thinking the same thing...the soya sauce is too much. That's why it's so salty. That's why she needed to put more peanut butter in there. Just add more peanut butter at the beginning and do a bit less soya sauce.

2nd time making these. And it is a favorite. I use the sauce and use whatever pasta, or rice noodles I have in the pantry. Ill add shredded can or shredded beef and saute whatever vegetables I have from the night before, carrots julienne, broccoli, scallions, bell peppers, baby corn cabbage, or whatever. I don't have a set recipe. The one constant is the sauce base. Its also great as a dip as well. Family loves it. Its economical, filing, and takes 15 minutes to prepare. Thank you from Houston

at some point i read an article with like a wheel of flavors and it showed how people experience food. it changed my cooking life. you don't have to be an artist or whatever, you just need to know the different flavors. now when i eat any food i think which flavor does this need? and add it. like if it needs acidity or it's too sweet, you can add vinegar, lemon, lime, citric acid, malic acid, ascorbic acid etc. if it needs earthiness you can add tomato, mushrooms, broccoli,) etc. if it needs saltiness... add salt or substitute. etc. once you see this you look at recipes and see that they have vinegar, a sweet thing (baby carrots or brown sugar), salt, mushrooms, oil, etc and you can easily substitute for anything you don't have. i can make so many more recipes now because i don't have what they call for but i see the purpose of the ingredient

Read the comments asking for measurements. Please understand that usual and common (and I'd say authentic) Asian cooking and recipes (well at least East Asian and Southeast Asian) would not prescribe precise amounts, numbers, grams, cups, or tespoons of ingredients. There's a video of it on youtube with Gordon Ramsay and a Malaysian chef or cook. That was interesting because of the culture clash on the westerner Ramsay's constant nagging for measurements and the Asian chef's sassy insistence on ''agak-agak."

It baffles me people are so butthurt about her not showing the exact measurements to such a basic recipe involving a few ingredients clearly chosen in their quantity solely by personal taste. My grandma always told me that if I only rely on exact measurements in order to cook the simplest things, my skills and estimation by eye will never evolve. She showed enough in order for people to grasp the concept of a fast, basic recipe and more or less the quantities of each used product.

Hey Patrick, thanks for the comment. I purposely left out the measurements for this video because I felt that it really depends on the type of noodles and the quantity you use. Also it’s very much “to taste” some ppl prefer it more saucey. I wanted to show how you can make a simple Asian style pasta dish with just a few ingredients. But thanks for the tip, I might take a different approach it future videos then.

@@codghost9301 I wouldn’t use regular oil. I would use peanut oil or the oil that is in the peanut jar when separated. If u do not have peanut oil, just add a bit more water. The sauce will be not as thick and luscious. It will be on the watery side, but it’s actually still very delicious.
