I've been watching a bunch of tutorials like this with interactive photos and transitions, but I might be looking for the wrong thing and was hoping for suggestions, either a tutorial or maybe a different software. I've got adobe CCS to work off already, but if there are suggested plug-ins or software, I'm willing to try. I have a number of Maps of an area over a number of years and I want to put something together to transition between them preferably with a manual control of some kind. If it's possible to control an overlay of one to the next where you can see the differences as well even. So far this video seems to be the closest to what I'm trying to do, but not quite it right. Any suggestions I would be grateful.

Anna this isn't supported for interactive PDF as it's HTML based. The only interactive things you can really do in PDF nowadays is hyperlink, nav buttons, and show/hide objects. Anything with animation or Object States, like I show in this tutorial, are best for EPub or Publish Online.

If you are trying to export to PDF, this won't work.

As of now, the only options are: 1. Export for EPub and viewing it in an EReader, such as Apple Books or the equivalent for Windows/Android. I found that one called "Caliber" is the best for retaining animation and interactivity. 2. Publish Online allows you to simply publish the document to an Adobe-hosted server. Text is no longer live and this is not searchable. But it's a good way of going from InDesign to the web for simple documents. 3. In5 is a paid subscription that has tools allowing users to go from InDesign to your own hosted website. Look into it as it's a worthwhile tool if you're publishing a lot. 4. You can always go to File > Export and choose HTML as the export file. This will output the HTML, js and images for web. However this will not retain the geometry and layout. You will need to work with a developer to clean it up the code in Dreamweaver. I hope these were helpful and you can understand when you translate back.

@@AngeloMontilla Thanks for the answer! It turns out that a simple user without third-party add-ons will not be able to use the converted file. Not all users will be able to open the Epub. Html requires the necessary knowledge. And in5 is an additional paid service.

Hi Craig. This 100% works in InDesign. It won't work for Interactive PDF if that's what you're trying to do.

@@RW.MOMOON Hey there! I left the link to download the scrolling frames extension in the description. The Overlay you're trying to access is not functional. It used to be part of InDesign's Digital Publishing Suite (DPS) which no longer exists. You'll have to download that extension if you want the scrolling frames feature. Thanks!
