Honestly, at this point, You should really consider creating a fully-fledged course for beginners on Substance Designer. You're a good teacher with a high knowledge/skill in this software, Please consider creating a beginner course on Udemy or even Gumroad or Skillshare, It would take a long time and a lot of effort to make, but It is worth it in the end. Because there aren't many well-thought-out tutorials/courses regarding substance designer. And Thank you for your effort! I have created the Sci-Fi Circuit Material, but I still don't fully understand what these Histagram Select, and Edge Detect and all those "rare" or "Non-Basic" nodes do. I'm fairly new to the whole node-based workflow as I'm an intermediate hard surface modeler. But I'm loving it! I'm going to keep coming back to this video for reference and get a full understanding of those nodes!

Thank you very much! I’ve been thinking about doing a full course for beginners. Seeing really nice comments like yours is very motivating so thank you again and I’m so glad the videos are helping! Let me know if you have any questions and I’ll answer them the best I can! 😊

@@JeremySeiner You're welcome mate! My question is, Will there going to be a trim sheets texture map tutorial for game assets or environment? They are exclusively used within the game industry. And a lot of game props artists use substance designer solely to create trim sheets for their game environment and that tutorial would help a lot!
@JeremySeiner3 жыл бұрын
@@kruz3d573 absolutely! Expect trim sheets on this channel coming up soon! 😁

Haven't even finished to watch this. But I'm already hyped. I started 3D because of Sci fi design and actually realizing that you can get these amounts of details by materials, was a huge game-changer. Thank you this might a very usefull tool on the belt on tackling scifi :D!!

My ambient occlusion (HBAO) node likes to make higher height information look darker for some reason. I don't really know why...
@JeremySeiner3 жыл бұрын
My guess is it has something to do with the Height Based Ambient Occlusion algorithm it is using. You could change the radius and height depth parameters to possibly fix this for you. Also, you could add a levels between the HBAO node and the Ambient Occlusion to manually adjust the darker information. Hope this helps!

Great work! But I have a question. How did you change from red line to solid line? 01:44 (sorry, I'm Korean. so my English is not very well)
@JeremySeiner3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! To answer your question: the red line will change when we put grayscale information into the blend node. Because blend nodes can handle both color and grayscale information, we have to tell it which one we are using by connecting something to either the foreground or background input. Once we connect our height information into the foreground of that blend, the red line will change to gray. =) hope that helps!
