Lovely content Brett. Some crushing guitar playing here! If you cut your finger like this, stop the bleeding enough to apply a layer of superglue, then when dried, apply another, then another. It's the best way to protect the epithelial tissue and allow quick healing. You can keep playing and if you're gigging it won't hold you back. Namaste x

I like my tone on the edge of breakup too, but for different reasons. I just like that you can cruise a little dirty, and then when you really dig in you start to get str8 up nasty with a little extra kick from natural distortion. My favorite kind of distortion.

I haven’t been learning songs lately. All I do is take everything I’ve learned and memorized over the last seven years of studying and apply it to practice. I’m beginning to visualize chord structure within the scales, both pentatonic and diatonic.
@Ly27442 жыл бұрын
@@BrettPapa one more thing lol I picked up a song book today. It’s been a few years now except for a theory book I’ve studied now and then.. I gravitated to the chords. Progression sequences . I have some training to do when it comes to developing timing the syllables to a rhythm I can make my own. I make up a lot of cool stuff though playing around with harmony and melody.
@nickdrey1200 Жыл бұрын
Bro, it's so much more important to develop your own unique voice and ability to, meaningfully, improv over progs on the fly than it is to play fast. Fast Weedle deedle playing is bullshit. It really doesn't sound anywhere near as good, playing shitloads of notes in a space, as opposed to playing a unique personal melody. It's harder to learn improv and unique self expression than it is to learn to Weedle deedle
@Ly2744 Жыл бұрын
@@nickdrey1200 I agree, I was practicing some scale exercises pulling out Melodie’s, It’s weird how when I’m playing the exercise I can do that plus seeing chords within the scale structure. Lol sorry I got carried away

It's vital to learn about the lightness of touch. The harder you grip the strings the harder it is to move on the fretboard. This opens a can of worms though, because one tends to not think about it. If you have soft fingers then ''taller'' or jumbo frets might suit you better because the tendency to press with all your strength is often caused by strings not ''fretting'' because of the meaty part of your fingers being soft, that if of course assuming that the action of the guitar is correct.

Your technical demos are the best I've seen , But PLEASE, I know you're not just teaching licks, but if you could SLOW DOWN as you demonstrate a couple of these shorter licks to show how exactly you are tweaking through some of the ones that combine chord tones with bends or whatever, you would give us late beginners/ early intermediate something to grasp, and practice these moves on. Otherwise it goes by too fast, and Its just a bunch of muscle memory brilliance. But slow down and TEACH a few of these licks that exemplify the great moves , PLEASE ! Or I'm afraid to buy any of your courses. You're too much of a master to not to share this. Watch your friend Tim Pierce explain that Clapton " Crossroads" turnaround, for instance. PLEASE.

Gary was the best. Sure he rip out fire if he needed to but he had so much control. Even B.B. King himself said Gary was in a class of his own. If he were American or English or Australian or basically from anywhere else but here (Northern Ireland) he would be remembered with pride and honoured by a statue - and rightly so!! Sadly even here people have never heard of him. It is so sad. They are more likely to remember and honour dead terrorists. Gary gave the world a vision of what could be achieved if you dedicate your time to learning instead of plotting or spouting hate, as our so called "politicians" did/do. A nation of less than 2million and about 5 per cent would know who Gary was or where he came from. He grew up surrounded with murder and hate, as we all did in the seventies and eighties here. Most young men from Belfast in those days wasted their lives and took the lives of others without so much as a day's thought. He didn't allow himself to be influenced by the hatred. He worked hard and became the very best there can be through hard work and dedication. He was a virtuoso and is overlooked so often. I have seen so called top 50's and he isn't even mentioned. Can you imagine that being said of SRV or Albert King et al? It is really sad. I admit i am biased as a fan but a blind man on a galloping horse could see how sad that is. At almost 50 i have not long took up the instrument myself ( a few years). I used to sit as a kid and listen to Gary and thinking "How the hell is that possible?". Now, as an adult with a little knowledge, I know the technicalities of what he did but still wonder " How the hell did he do that???"
