Dude, I've gotta say, your videos are leveling up big time! It's like each new one is a step up from the last. And by the way, transforming a 3D cube into a compelling 2D representation is, on its own, pretty darn impressive. Your creativity knows no bounds! Keep rocking those videos, and can't wait to see what's next! 🚀

I knew you could use stacked unstackables for cool 1wt overflow-protected few-reserved-items sorters, but I didn’t realize there was *any* way to get an output of more than 15 from them (even if it isn’t to redstone). That’s neat!
@leifquennelle545011 ай бұрын
You can use the 2D net of a 3D rubic cube to create a functionaly 3D cube on a 2D plane, however it would take 54 different cells so you couldn't use signal strength
@squibble11111 ай бұрын
54 different cells? I could use signal strength, as theres only 6 colors. However the network of nonsense required to get the shulkker boxes where they need to be is unfeasible. Standard computational redstone would be more effective

so, eh, if the dust caps at 15 strength but the comparator doesn't- isn't it an expensive but doable prospect to just pass the signal along with comparators into the component you need if said target component can also be overloaded? Maybe there are also other components that can handle overloaded redstone signals somehow, and if you can make them update something you could make cables cheap again with leafstone/scaffolds etc to trip an observer.
@C4Oc.11 ай бұрын
I mean, if you can find something other than a comparator that changes behaviour depending on strength, it would make sense. But to my knowledge, all redstone components in-game except for the comparator only ever turn off or on, with no regard shown for the signal strength.

This is a neat project. Calling it 2D Rubik's Cube isn't quite correct, but I get why you called it that. The stickers of an n-dimensional Rubik's Cube are (n-1)-dimensional. So a 2D Rubik's Cube has 1D stickers, aka line segments. They would only be one the outside of the 2D cube (read square) since the inside of it isn't even visible from within the 2D plane. A 3x3 2D Rubik's Cube would for example have 3 line segment shaped stickers making up each of the 4 sides. Sadly 2 dimensions aren't enough to allow for any turning of the faces (edges), so 2D Rubik's Cubes are pretty boring. If we allow turns into a third dimension, an NxM 2D Rubik's Cuboid is equivalent to a 1xNxM 3D Rubik's Cuboid with the sticker on the NxM sized faces missing. 1xNxN 3D Rubik's Cubes are also called Rubik's Squares. The sliding puzzle with wrap around you are creating is similar to twisty puzzles like Rubik's Cubes and Squares from a mathematical point of view as far as solving them is concerned and many strategies for solving one of these in a specific way should be applicable to the other ones. These sliding puzzles tend to be easier for humans. But to complexity theorists these 2 types of puzzles are equivalent since they can be solved in polynomial time while finding optimal solution is NP-complete. On a semi-related note this kinda reminds me of the self solving Rubik's Cube in Minecraft that's been living in my head for a couple years now and is still waiting to be built. Surprisingly, the self solving aspect is the only part of this I have mostly figured out.

Thank you for the very well thought iut comment. Its kinda true that it isnt a 2d rubiks cube, but thinking of it as conceptually a puzzle that involves the intersection of various piece moving moves to scramble the pieces, it checks out in my book. I wonder how difficult a rubiks cube solver would be to create, besides going to lazy route and recording all moved and pkaying them in reverse

My instant idea was to implement another layer of shulker box feed tape for some extra encode bits, but overstuffing the boxes and then subtract the signal by 15 is way more impressive than mine.
@Gekoloudios11 ай бұрын
ss higher than 15 is pretty cool but honestly I think a more computational approach (so just using binary and converting to bcd) would've been better, so if you want you can maybe try binary after finishing the project with this method (just maybe... lol)
@mArmelade_6911 ай бұрын
I think he used the higher signal strength method because it’s unusual and adds kind of a challenge to the system, as well as being original for a KZbin video. Maybe he’s not looking for the most efficient way of doing things but rather the most interesting way, for viewers to stay. That’s my theory, we’ll see if he confirms it
@solesey7613 ай бұрын
Overloading the comparator seems so extra to me. I'd just use "base 15" and just have a 15's digit as well as a 1's digit.

I know I'm 7 months late, but I ended up making a fully working version of the "2D" Rubik's "Cube" on the Nintendo Switch that is semi-bulky and very unoptimized. Unfortunately I don't have any video editing skills/software, so the quality of the audio and video would be really bad.

wouldn't it be possible to make a 3x3 square and rotate 2x2 sections of it?
@Illuminati_HD11 ай бұрын
Can you explain the Redcoder a bit more? Id like to know how you find out how you can realise its more than 15. Do you shortly send another signal that subtracts from the original and if the original is still higher than 0 you switch over to the next row?
@nikkiofthevalley11 ай бұрын
Just subtract 14, then put it through a repeater. If it's 15, 15-14 is 1, so the repeater will be active. If it's below 15, it will be either zero or negative, which is rounded to zero. If it's above 15, it will slowly increase.
@_wetmath_11 ай бұрын
i'm guessing he takes a comparator output from the first redstone dust, then subtracts it by 13. if redstone is off, don't do anything, but if it's on then input signal strength 13 into the original comparator (and cut off the bottom output line)
@squibble11111 ай бұрын
It uses a full detector (SS >15) to find iut if its overloaded. Then itnsubtracts 15 from it
