In this video I’ll be showing you how to make a nano cube terrarium! It features an array of tropical ferns, plants and moss that come together to creat a mini slice of nature. A DIY terrarium project like this is a great way to grow closer to nature, I’ll be breaking down each step of the build so you can replicate it yourself. Enjoy the video! The nano tank measures 20cm x 20cm (7.8” x 7.8”).
Check out my new book for a detailed guide on how to make and care for terrariums! terrariumdesigns.co.uk/produc...

I WISH I could get that leca you use here in the states. All we have access to here are the hideous reddish brown balls that look awful in a terrarium. You have access to a nice looking raw gray chunk that looks amazing as a drainage layer. I tend to use black lava rock instead of leca because of this. Anyway, awesome terrarium as usual, man. You make some really cool designs.

Love both! I think I err towards the one made in this video though. The deep valley concept is really cool. Do you have a video or plan to make one on how you make these “boxes”? I’d love to make my own square glass terrarium as well.

Love it. Also, mentioned on a past post that you and serpa inspired me to try my hand - and I'm now officially in the club! I made two terrariums with 6" wide 18" tall vases, and they now sit on either side of my desk. Not sure if the ficus pumilla will survive, though. It got caught in a cold snap during shipping and the leaves were turning white :(
@TerrariumDesigns
@TerrariumDesigns Жыл бұрын
Absolutely love to hear that! Hopefully the ficus will bounce back, even if it drops all its leaves it can grow them back once it’s settled:)

Nice build. You said "after all plants can always be uprooted and moved, rocks can not" Sounds backwards to me. Easier to move a rock than pull out roots and replant them. Just don't glue the rocks together. In a small set up like this no need to bond the rocks together. Not like there is plate tectonics going on in there.
@TerrariumDesigns
@TerrariumDesigns Жыл бұрын
Thanks! You are partly correct, but glueing them together make’s maintenance 100x easier, no need to worry about nocking rocks over into the glass:)
@Boywithplants
@Boywithplants Жыл бұрын
Everyone has their own way :) I do bot, depends on what build in making. Also the roots are pulled out easily with the soil. Just make sure you take out most of the roots because they can start rot. And clean the soil or put new soil

Idk why but the spiderwood kinda look like aliens to me at the beginning. So I was basically like "Oh, Look! Alien giraffes!" Which then lead me to freaking out when you put the plants in, because it now look like the plants are tryna choke out the aliens. I can't unsee it, that's the worst part.
