Although creating the actual scene did not take me very long setting up all of the VFX and sequences for this took quite a while. I could have easily spent another few weeks on this polishing it up and making it much more production quality but one of my first goals for these scenes is to have fun and spending the next few weeks on the same scene wouldn't be fun ;)
Overall the main purpose of this one wasn't so much getting a beautiful scene put together but more to test out some ideas and to have a bit of fun doing something unique/different!
The music used in this video was created and bought from Tybercore - / tybercore

I've spent the last couple of days trying to find some understanding of how to do a landscape and get a feel of the workflow. You. Are. Amazing! Thank you so very much for sharing your work. Now I understand that everything I did was wrong.

It would be great to see some stars in the sky and some shooting stars. In general 10 out of 10. You're the f**king master.

Why would you put a windmill at such a remote location? Imagine the medieval laborers working so hard to get the wheat there and take the flour back. Looks awesome, though :D

Amazing work ;) Did you plan to make level art tutorials instead of speed art in future?

Matthew Dotson sometimes I just wing it, but for most of them I sit and think of a great shot or sometimes get inspired by artwork online. in this video I had every single detail figured out in my head from how the scene looked visually, to the music that would not only be used but be timed to match up perfectly with the asteroid, even little details like the birds flying out to help show time slowing down and the destroyed underwater scene afterwards.

Ah the volume cloud was skipped. I really must look into that as I think i can use the ray march effect for some good meaty clouds. Is that using shader bits example or is it just another eye trick for bg clouds?

Hey Evil, a long time ago i had read something that you were making maps/ a map for a game. Was this true? and if so what game? because these scenes are truly amazing and i would love to play some type of game on them! Thanks for these inspiring videos showing what can be accomplished through pride and hard work!

He has a map for Ark: Survival Evolved called The Center. It's good, but not exactly the same quality of these "scenes" that he does due to how the game works. He was working on a desert map for an Ark: Survival of the Fittest (a fps type pvp offshoot for Ark), but that map got canceled atleast for the time being. I believe he is working on a private project as well, but I don't think he's released much info on that. I believe there's links to those on his youtube and twitter accounts.

Thanks man, good to know. The Center is actually an amazing map, considering its ARK.

I've been following your stuff and i have this question on my mind for quite a while, have you tried using VR headset with your work before ? if yes, can you tell me a bit of the experience ? if no, are you going to try one ?

kzbin.info/www/bejne/j6O0gJxsp5iWmNU This work here was done entirely for Virtual reality. Working in VR as a developer can be pretty frustrating as what you can do with it is very limited both in terms of gameplay and tech/performance. But as somebody who has been making levels for about 16 years it's refreshing to have a new way of experiencing the work I do XD

Can someone tell me why this guy evilmrfrank is showing youtube videos in fast forward? OK, it looks nice...so what? Pretty useless if you don't have a tutorial and you're just placing objects into the viewport.
