James and others found that if you build it as a residential first, and then change it to a rental, it doesn't lag when you're building.

I've personally found that if you don't seperate the units themselves until the very end you can still do it as rental residential if you do that by accident

youre right with the medieval/tudor house thing, you only had to pay for the ground that your house was actually on, it was a way to have more room but without having to pay more for it. which is why whenever you see a 2 story house from around that period, the front/sides go out so far. like you mentioned in the video, the shambles in york are a great example of this

You were technically right, the reason for the extended second floor in old homes was because there were regulations on how much room there had to be for the roads but extending the upstairs wouldn’t get in the way of the road meaning it was allowed and a good way to have more space

I’ve heard somewhere that the reason why medieval houses had the top floor hanging over the bottom floor is because they didn’t have running water so they used buckets to pee and poo in and they threw it out the window. The top floor being slightly wider meant that there was no splash back of faeces on the bottom floor

If I remember correctly from my interior design history classes from college, the overhang on the houses was for a safety aspect. It is much more difficult to break into and invade a home if there is an overhang like that.

When a sim jumps off the diving board the animation does not change height. So if you place a diving board on a platform the sim will animate at the platform level & not the water level below the platform. This CAN result in sim death. There is no where or way for the sim to leave the water they did not animate inside of. I'd share a link to a video but I'm sure youtube will block the video as spam if I do. But please believe me or test it yourself.
