I’m thinking that the critters are green because they’ve been in an environment where lots of chlorophyll was being produced when the area dried out. Open field, lots of sunshine-> green microbiota. It’s fascinating the Interconnectedness of the whole system. I’m really glad that I found this channel. I’m stuck inside the house due to health issues and I’ve been going nuts. You have inspired me to try some new adventures! I have three outdoor ponds in livestock watering tanks but there’s very limited vegetation in them yet. The mechanism for dispersal of some clam and mussle species is that the larva attach to the gills of fish, becoming almost a parasite until they are large enough to release and attach to the substrate. That's my guess for what happened to the mite.
