19:15 This is where a TOP view should be. This alone should scream to Adobe developers "that FOR SOME REASON there isn't a top view" and they should add LTRB views that are STANDARD in 3D modeling for good reason.

The boolean thing was EXACTLY what I couldn't wrap my head around how I would do these types of cuts until I listened to this! Now if there was only a way to reset zoom because somehow I zoomed through my object, panned, and then lost it...hahahaha

Really straightforward and clean boolean workflow, but is there a way to turn into highly accurate polymesh inside the app?
@paulworster36832 жыл бұрын
i think the warp hardness spheres and gizmos in general feel very confusing being both white and not translucent enough. i think it would also be better to have a grid / wireframe look to it for better judgement of space. there could even be an area of influence colours on model its self like the soft selects visuals in Maya and Max. this would make operations much easier to understand.

it needs a simple gizmo/modifying geometry tool, with the select tool, you take your work, and you select it, and you should be able to select a simple gizmo and scale only on one axis, (with a hardness radius) a lot of stuff could a lot simpler with a tool like that, i wanted to create a simple saucer, cutting a sphere in half and squashing it, it pretty hard to do with a warp tool, the software impressed me, with the performance, it's pretty fast and responsive, and easy to use
@Substance3D2 жыл бұрын
Hey, non-uniform warping might not come for a while, non-uniform scaling of layers might come sooner. But for what you want to you should just squash the sphere before you place it.

@Alienbacilusua8 ай бұрын
I'd HIGHLY suggest adding a key for transforming on every BUT selected axis, as in Blender. For example, I want to make my cylinder thicker, but not higher. Right now solution is in 3 steps - increase overall size, decrease height, apply. It will be a lot faster if you could exclude axis + it can be much more precise and will surely spare you extra hassle of changing views to align everything properly.

If you could auto-create splines at user-defined threshold angles, then be able to use though splines to precisely target those edges, with modifiers, such as sharpen, smooth, and even draw your own profile edge different shapes to distort those edges, that would me the holy grail of user control.

@@Substance3D I wonder how you will position this software in the broad range of alraeady available options on the market - many of them powerful and free or having a very favourable pricetag. Pure boolean workflows may be intuitive for beginners but you can only go so far with it. Looks like the meshes will be really dense so real-time use may be off the cards and - again - for high detail-high poly modeling there are options aplenty. Will there be options for remeshing or any features that take this software beyond being a concepting tool? I am really curious.
@Substance3D2 жыл бұрын
@Gerulf Dösinger I can not stress this enough: Modeler is beta, still in development, and things might change. There are a lot of talented 3D artists working at Substance, who raise the same points as you (me included). That said, there is already a remesh and auto-UV workflow built into Modeler. There's no video on it yet, I want to make one asap. The meshes and UV's it generates not perfect, but it's many times faster than manual rework (5 mins vs 3 hours or so for this wheel).
@Substance3D2 жыл бұрын
@@gerulfdosinger9869 Also you say "pure boolean workflows" but Modeler is more than that, I'm not a character artist like our Art Director Gio, but he makes crazy organic stuff with. You can definitely do more with Modeler than just these simple add, subtract merge operations. I just wanted to show a simple project to get started ;)
