If you paint the inside of your barn white it will make it super bright inside and make it feel cleaner. We always paint the inside of our garages for that reason.

We had it on a roof and it lasted well for 40 years. I think it's possible to buy different thicknesses though. Can't imagine Doug making a mistake on that

What a unique idea for more natural lighting instead of the glare of electrical lighting. Instead of replacing most of the barn or a totally new one, you made it work! Of course putting your own spin on it made the outcome over the top! All you need is a canning kitchen area for Ashley when her gardens are in full swing! And of course adding Maverick feeding the chickens put a smile on my face.

Great idea - changing to the clear gable ends. Basically no maintenance required now. The white framing looks neat. There should be plenty of light now. 😁

Where do you come up with these awesome ideas? When I look at your barn it has an almost "solarium" kind of feel to it! Capping the corners off with that white trim really makes it pop. It looks like an entirely new building...Better Barns & Gardens! Once again the editing is noteworthy! Oh and if that wasn't enough, we find out that Doug is a comedian! LOL!

You could really see the gaps and lights coming in from those boards inside the barn! Good thing you decided to replace all of that wood before the winter weather arrives! So much light now! Definitely helps with your lighting issues. The corner trim really finished it off nicely! I love it.

I like the privacy aspect that the lower doors don't have windows or glass, just the little slider windows. Hail balls will be the true test! We don't get them often in the midwest, but when we do...they can really fly hard! It would be very easy to replace panels on one end in the event though. I think that product's universally available. So that's Great! I think the natural light effect is 1000% worth trying your design out!! I hope the ventilation is nice for you in there too.. It sure has Visual Appeal. Anyone would be so proud of it. A+ ; )

A wonderfully vibrant barn. 💙 Instead of adding moulding for the windows, you could spray paint the edging around them white. It would provide an illusion that the eye will accept as moulding. Crisp and “finished” without adding a large expense. (As it is just a barn-albeit it, a beautiful, light-filled barn. 💙)

One minute in I thought you were going with clear panels, when you painted the trusses I knew you were! Clear panels have come a long way those look so beautiful. The old barn looks so crisp new and modern, great job people!!! When I saw sweet little man giving the hens a snack, I had two thoughts, bright yellow marigolds would look beautiful growing along that strip between the blue barn and the driveway....and the flower heads are good to put in the laying boxes pests don't like them they offer extra nutrients for the chickens and they give the egg yolks a beautiful color. Long comment eh! 😁

Doug and Ashley... I am sooooooooo inspired by you both, in so many ways. You have LOTS to teach our teachers. You are so easy to receive and so much fun in every way. I enjoy especially seeing how you deal with unexpected snags in your plans... love that part. But, I wanted to especially comment on this particular video. It occurs to me, since air is itself an insulator, that if you were to put another layer of that corrugated plastic on the OTHER side of those rafters on the INSIDE that it would help immensely with keeping weather and other stuff OUT of your barn... just a thought.. from a person with very little construction experience. Okay... going out to clean my OWN garage now... will wait for your reply or other comments.

I’m imagining the decorative aspects to add to the view; the beautiful picnic table you’re building with its umbrella of complimentary colors to the barn, subtle but beautiful, too! Barrels on the bark lining, full of flowers, Belle and Maverick’s adventure finds...it’s a beautiful palette! Maybe it could also serve as an outdoor gallery of Belle’s artworks. Wow what a transformation.I love the clear curragated panel idea with the painted trusses. The corner trim looks awsome too. But with the heavy white wood trim look makes the windows and doors look naked. They need form of casing to tie them in. Just a suggestion. I know the to do list never seems to shorten and projects are never truly done.

A friend of mind told me once that one of the the underlying ideas of the Art Nouveau movement should be that everything we make and use should not be just functional, but beautiful too. What an improvement! Installing windows where there are boards would also help bring in more light. It will be cold in the winter, a pot belly or Franklin stove would help that. Another great job, Doug and Ashley!
