It is amazing the different it makes just showing the homestead a little love. Leaving a soil free margin round buildings will pay a dividend. Either a good thick 6 inches of wood chip mulch or stone chippings will keep the splashes cleaner and give somewhere for the rain and melting snow to go. Just cleaning off the grime and weed has really helped. I wonder if the De Walt motor issue represents a problem batch issue, it did sound a lot like a bearing running dry or a failing motor problem. It would not be unreasonable to complain as the issue appears very genuine. Yes maverick should be a source of pride to you, as should your daughter, a lovely family for whom you strive to do the best. I admire the way you never appear to get rattled when things go wrong it makes you a good role model and not just for children.

I too love his ingenious design to fix the hole in the barn! When he was cutting into it, and then adding the "fix" sideways I couldn't imagine what Doug was doing, but I was quite impressed with the outcome. One would hardly notice that repair as it doesn't at all look like your typical style "patch" repair.

Doug and Ashley, getting new equipment, is all in your own good time. I have been playing with the pressure washer idea for several years. In the mean time have been able to borrow one from neighbor when needed. It does make the home sparkle, and the speed of washing up is crazy fast versus a bucket and brush. Just be careful on new surfaces such as concrete not to linger to long in one area, you will take the top finish off your nice smooth finish. Can't wait for the barn color, this is always exciting when color is involved. I think Maverick's closing was adorable, you have a wonderful night.

If you aren't already thinking it, you will shortly be thinking"how did I ever live without the pressure washer. They are great for so many things. We have hardwood floors in our house, the real ones from 1951. We use oval braided rugs rather than carpet as we are farm house style. Once per year I clean the driveway, lay the rugs on it, wet the rugs, add soap then pressure wash them. They come out looking like new. So many uses, I love mine and I know you will yours too. Very glad you bought it.

22 years ago when we moved out to this property, hubby bought a $600 commercial Shindaiwa weed whacker. (yes, it's gas powered) I had a fit because it was so expensive, but you know what? 22 years later it's still running strong, with only one $60 repair about 10 years ago. For the first three years here, we didn't own a lawnmower, I "mowed" our one acre cleared area with the weed whacker. It's big, it's blue, it's heavy, and it is a beast. I honestly think it will outlast me! I hope it does. I'm in charge of the yard, and I wouldn't trade my big ol' heavy Shindaiwa for anything!
@freckles37054 жыл бұрын
I have a Shindawa too for 13 years. I was a little scared to use it because it is powerful. Spent about $60-70 to tune it up last year and was told it is difficult to get parts if something major happens. Would not trade it for anything.

Once your barn is painted, consider attaching some welded mesh panels to brackets on it. You will then have the perfect place to grow any vegetables that like to climb: beans, squashes, tomatoes, etc. Vertical gardening on an existing building can give you masses of extra garden space!

I don't know anything about the amount of pressure. But be careful ours will wash the wood right off of our old privacy fence if you hold it to close. And clay you have to scrub if its red clay it's almost baked on.. and scrubbing is about the only way to get it off. It kinda dyes the wood red mud color.

Fixing tools and appliances is great fun. I enjoy it. Usually, there aren’t big problems unless it’s been neglected or abused. I fixed an oscillating cutoff tool a couple weeks ago. A wire came off for a brush and melted some stuff. A bit of time and solder later, and it was good as new. I soldered the connector for the other brush to make sure it, too, stayed on.
