You've come out with this video series at the perfect time for me! I'm currently re-examining my approach to the game (something that's been bothering for a while, but the recent wants-based discourse has really inspired me to do something about it) and I've decided to create a custom hood where I'm very deliberate about my decisions early on, as opposed to just creating random sims, throwing them together and seeing what happens... because while I get attached to my original sims, I still get stuck in the same-old play cycle and am bored with the neighbourhood by the time the 2nd generation starts reaching adulthood. Your videos have been really helpful to remind myself to try new things and break some of the old playstyle habits that seem to be holding me back: like, if you hadn't mentioned avoiding aspiration calculators, I probably would've calculated aspirations as toddlers like I always do-and probably would've found myself in the same situation as I have in other playthroughs. So far I've been following your advice and really thinking about what my town is like and who is in it. It's been a much slower process, but I feel very confident about the direction of my new hood! @@stebie965 thank you so much for your kind words and I hope you have lots of fun on your gameplay journey! 💕 Calculators can be useful if you have no clue what to do with a sim lol, but as you said, I try to be much more deliberate with who my playable sims are. If I want game-generated randomness, I just move in townies, and there's lots of them living in my hood, so I'll cover them as well in the future.

@@CreusaSims I created this hood years ago and it's just for personal use, I just thought it's the best setting to discuss story-based gameplay and lore ideas. I might create a custom hood for download in the future but it'll probably be fully vanilla/no CC.

@@psychichxms3235these are CC objects, you interact with them in live mode to add a sim portrait. I'm on mobile rn so I can't find all the links, but please check my Pinterest boards, I'm 100% they're in one of my CC collections.
