@bebopalooblog287725 күн бұрын
No. It isn't. Replacement plugs not only suck, they are designed for 14-gauge wires, ideally non-stranded, not the fine wires of what looks like a low-current LED light string to me, having just replaced a plug on one. Also, in much of the world, like small villages in Mexico, such things are not available at all. The replacement plugs are expensive, non-waterproof and provide no method to protect fine wire connections from mechanical stress. You are therefore left with binding the insulation to the plug with electrical tape and praying nobody pulls on the cord. This method is superior to that, but it's actually better to splice on an old lamp or appliance cord rather than deal with the short wires. Then you can fold the wires back on themselves and bind the whole thing together with tape, protecting the relatively weak splice from the tension inherent in most string-light installations.

I never had any luck with off the shelf plug ends. Even when I paid $200 to get a bunch of my cords fixed. I do a similar method as this with more reinforcement than the video shows. Nothing you buy off the shelf is engineered to work flawlessly. Everything is engineered to be just good enough to sell at the price people are willing to pay. Moreover, even the plug ends they sell that do not really work, are often as expensive as getting a new cord.
@dennisgarber7 ай бұрын
I use several extension cords for work each day and use about 250 feet of them on the weekends to mow my 75 feet by 400 feet deep lawn, since I have so many cords, and a corded lawn mower doesn't stall on long grass like my riding and push gas mowers, and the electric cuts the lawn shorter and the lawn looks better. My lawn grows an inch per day and I need to cut it 2 times a week with my gas mowers and once with the electric. Also, the thinker the copper wire, the more brittle and more quickly we get cord breaks. The thick wire is nearly impossible to get a good plug replacement. So slicing and soldering has been the only practical solution. It seems like a good thick cord does not take very long before needing a repair, more so than the thin. The wife and son refuse to mow rationally, from the outlet outwards, so the cord cannot get run over. I think they also purposely run over the cord with the lawn mower as an excuse not to mow, just as they use the excuse that they can't get the fas mowers started. Thus a seemingly constant cord repair is the norm.

This is the the only Church of each one of our spirit that we must listen to or eat and drink like how we eat, dress and sleep every day so that He can guide us and change us by rejecting the evil attached by satan so as to be perfect, having attained eternal life that will enter the coming replacement of the New Heaven and New Earth. 📥 👉 Note 📧 The coming of the Spirit of God incarnated in His second and last incarnation is the fulfillment of what was prophesied in the great BOOK of REVELATION so the last day or last age has come and His coming is to judge and punish unrighteousness of a person so that the pure or perfect person will be able to enter the approaching New Heaven and New Earth in the final judgment that all souls at that time will be reborn to receive the appropriate corresponding punishment (the one that will be destroyed and will no longer exist ) or the reward of living forever in the New World. 💟

Z zawodu jestem elektronikiem i automatykiem.

Pozdrawiam serdecznie Kreatywnego Mistrza!

I've done this with small appliances that have unique plugs. I think like a hair trimmer, but also a lamp. But I already had wire stripper (instead of using lighter), solder and iron, shrink tubing, etc. Instead of using electrical tape put another piece of shrink tubing on before the repair and slide it over the wires. Not safe for anything that draws a lot of current or heavy use.

I'm assuming this was not an extension cord. Go to the home store like America's Lowe's or Home Depot or even a little Ace Hardware. Buy a replacement plug. While I learned something new with the use of a lighter and tough finger to remove insulation buy a cheap wire stripper at the warehouse sized stores or a little hardware store. Heck, I've seen a wire stripper at a Dollar Tree. Then slide off the rubber cover of the replacement plug and slide it up the wire. There will be a couple terminals inside with big ugly screws. Loosen the screws. As inconvenient as it may be, wrap the exposed wire around the screw in the clockwise direction. That way as the screw tightens it will wrap the wire tighter. Slide the rubber cover down onto it. It will also have a small hose clamp. Tighten that down on the cable so flexing will not pull on the wires on their terminals. The result will be big and ugly but safe.
@CreativeMaster999Ай бұрын
Thanks for the tip! 😄👍🔌

Assuming one has a soldering iron and solder... otherwise its cheaper to buy a new plug end. And by the way heating the insulation with a lighter is fine except you'll burn your fingers if you gab the insulating right after you light it on fire! A little note stating that fact would have been a thoughtful addition to your video.... mister master!
