great rundown and great performance. I’ve got the ASP800 connected to an RME UCXII and it sounds absolutely beautiful on vocals and even guitar work.

Wow, that demo sounded amazing! If you didn't show me that it was recorded in such a small room on the go, I would definitely thought that it was recorded professionally. Great job! This only just goes to show that you can make great music with what you have available at home! Cheers!

Lovely little bit there, Considering the modest setup! I just picked up an 880 recently, funny how it eluded me for nearly a decade but such is the nature of gear although I do remember a 008 that I believe was discontinued I enjoy many hardware pres and am fortunate enough to own UA, Neve, Apollo x and api One could spend a great deal of money and time with too much kit but I enjoy the differences of high quality boxes I’m more impressed than I thought I would be with the Apollo unison plugs I don’t believe that are as sweet or rich as the outboard but if one is working hybrid or strictly in the box they will get you through I do wonder what your thought are regarding the nearly decade old converters in the Audient compared to the newer Apollo, Which would you slave?

Hello there. Nice video, great insight. I have a question about the recording setup. I was wondering why you used a mic in front of the bass amp. Doesn't the signal from the DI get preamped or isn't it enough? I hope you give an answer, as I am interested in learning more about recording. Thank you and keep doing a good job. Peace

Can the ASP800 be used as an audio interface?
@michaeltablet85773 жыл бұрын
Great video as always! I know you can chain 2 of the ASP800s together but can you chain 3? I sometimes record live bands and need all 24 tracks? Thanks again for all you do!
@CreativeSauce3 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael, I want to be cautious with my answer here, as I havnt actually done this! I'm also interested if you've actually daisy chained even 2. The reason is, that the ASP800 only has ADAT out, no ADAT in. Even if it did, I'm not convinced that daisy chaining is easily possible, since my understanding is that the ADAT lightpipe is only capable of carrying a maximum of 8 channels (at 48khz). I feel the best solution to get 24 tracks would be to use an audio interface which already has 8 pres, and has 2 ADAT inputs - with 2 ASP800s connected. I know my Antelope Discrete 8 Synergy Core has this. No daisy chaining involved :)

@@CreativeSauce thank you. Great advice. I saw a video of 2 chained but it may have been the asp880. I get them confused sometimes. Thanks again for all your videos. Always helpful.

Is this O.K. for driving through the entire mastering mix from analog to digital domain to add some "sparkle at the end and keep that High quality analog to digital conversion so you don't have to spend a fortune for let say prismsound Lyra 2 and similar stuff? :)

Mike, great video as usual. 1 question I had, as I have not used a setup for a whole band before, is where does the headphone amp come into the chain? Does the 6-out just plug into the headphone monitor out of the audio interface?
@CreativeSauce3 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew, in this case, it was a bit of a hybrid solution. I was able to send 3 outputs from the ID 14, to 3 inputs in the headphone amp, where I was able to send them to each ofvthe headphones. Although I could have plugged in 6 headphones if needed, I could only produce 3 different mixes - that's the limit girthed id14.
@ernestdaniels16713 жыл бұрын
Andrew, if you have an audio interface with more that a 1/2 out, then you can use "SENDS" in your DAW tracks and route the mix to your I/O 3/4 stereo out. Take the stereo 3/4 out and route it to a headphone amp so that your singer and band mates can hear. You want to make the "SENDS" Pre-Fader so that if you mute your mix or solo in the control room, it won't affect what the artist are hearing. I use the Presonus HP4 as I record 1 vocalist at a time, but it depends on how many individual headphone mixes you need to determine the Headphone amp you purchase.
