Had a pair of DT770's for about 10 years, and have repaired the cable about 3 times. They've been on the edge of dying for about 6 months and was thinking about the 700 Pro X, but just saw the 770 Pro X released... One significant reason to avoid the 700 Pro X (2021 model) is the headband. The adhesive used to attach the cushion to the plastic band has a major flaw-it tends to come off after just a few months of moderate use (a quick online search will reveal numerous complaints). Although Beyerdynamic made slight changes to the internal construction to address the issue, the problem persists, with the headband wearing out in only a few months. I've already had three replacements under warranty and am unsure what I'll do once the two-year warranty expires. It's no surprise Beyerdynamic released the new DT 770 PRO X Limited Edition at a more affordable price, reverting to the classic headband design while retaining the updated drivers and detachable cable.

These are my favorite, softest closed ear cams and the best freq response : 5Hz to 30kHz.. well below and above human hearing, the best 'presence' in head cans.. and removeable cords with mini-XLR.. best best best idea.. can't tell ya how many cans we destroyed by stepping on a cable and breaking the plug or shorting out a wire.. I converted an older Beyerdynamics 700 model.. broke the cable and spent intricate time modifying it and put in a mini-XLR..

DT 770 Pro actually comes in 3 different versions: 32, 80, and 250 ohms. I have been using DT 770 Pro 80 ohm (straight undetachable cable) maybe 15 years, and they still perform stellar. For production, tracking, mixing, and video editing, these cans are just awesome... I enjoy them so much ... aand maybe it's time to add DT 770 Pro X LE to my collection... :)

I used to have the DT770 Pro 80, and used it at home when I required a little bit of isolation from outside noises, found them good for watching and listening. Have been thinking about the DT 700 Pro X for a little while - especially as at 48 ohms can probably even drive them from an Xbox controller - but was put off making the purchase because wanted to see what these DT 770 Pro X were like. And looks like it’s a hard choice!

@CreativeSauce I'm in Australia and the 770 Pro X LE is the same price as the 700 Pro X. I'm put off by the additional weight of the 700s, but like their look a little more and have read that they don't have the harsh high end that the 770s do. Completely stuck with the decision. Used for tracking/practising electric guitar. Which would you say is ultimately more comfortable? And given they're the same price here, which would you buy?

Very nice review, I've watched a ton before pulling the trigger today and yours is definitely up there. For my use, on practice amp and music listening on a variety of devices, I concluded that 48 ohm would get me the best out of everything. Also, I know myself and why I prefer detached cable, and that I will switch to a coiled cable at some point, hassle free. And as a bass player ( hobby ) after 5 years with a cheap headphone I wore to its destruction, it's time to treat myself. Man, that thing is properly used, I glued a pad that fell off etc. I was not giving up on that thing. It served me well. It's good to start with modest gear though, makes the sweet, more expensive gear more enjoyable 😀

@angheltheodor15797 ай бұрын
@@CreativeSauce what audio interface would you recommend?
@OurgasmComrade5 ай бұрын
You'll need an interface that has an output impedance of either 10 ohms or less, otherwise if it's higher it will cause the headphones to have inaccurate low frequency response. Julian Krause talks about that a lot and it's based on physics and engineering (look up the "8x rule" when it comes to headphone versus interface impedance)

Do you think they're good for casual music listening and gaming on a laptop? Thanks!
@jasongiese19797 ай бұрын
Have the same question
@kaine8807 ай бұрын
@@jasongiese1979 You can listen to these casually since the dt990pros aren’t really good for gaming and leak a ton of audio, same with the 880’s making the 770’s the best option for gaming/music depending on how many ohms you get. 250 ohms is for studio and professional use so you’ll 100% have to buy an external amplifier which is pretty pricey. 80 ohms is easier to run considering most laptops/ phones can run it and the sound quality is also nice for casual use but if you’re device isn’t strong or doesn’t have a good sound card, you’re gonna need to once again get an external amplifier. With 32 ohms, it’s super easy to run so you wouldn’t need an amplifier however the cable is only 3 feet long which is incredibly short compared to the 80/250 ohm ones and people have said that the 32 ohm sound quality is worse. 80ohms would probably be the best option as most devices can handle it and the cable is long. Hope this helped!
@burns01007 ай бұрын
Yes, they work fine for all types of media use. They aren’t an overly flat sound so they can be fun and have a lot of sub bass rumble for gaming. My only negative is they do make your ears hot. Not a lot of air and replacing the pads changes the sound for the worse. Solid pick up for a closed back all purpose headphone.
