This song came out four months before I was born. My dad was a scared, broken 20 year old with no idea how he was going to raise a child. From what I’ve been told, the song that played on the radio they had going right at my arrival happened to be this masterpiece. For 23 years he’d play this classic while he took me to school, work, scouts, with at least once a week telling the story about how this song saved his life, and helped shaped him into the father he still is today. That’s why I’m still listening to this Jam in 2023, because I grateful for the father I have. Plus it fucking slaps

This song hits me everytime. It literally came on the radio as soon as I left the doctors office when I found out I was pregnant. Thank you @creed for such an emotional song. My son is grown now, and I couldn't be prouder of the man he has become. Even tho I had him when I was 17. Everyone swore he would become a thug or something bc I was so young. My own grandmother said I should abort him or give him up for adoption. Well he is now a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corp. And I couldn't be more PROUD!!!!

This is one of the most soul-stirring songs ever released in the early 2000s. SCOTT STAPP, CREED's lead singer, wrote "WITH ARMS WIDE OPEN" after learning he was going to be a father in early 1998. One of the reasons he felt compelled to do it was that he didn't want his child to endure the same difficulties he did as a youngster. Stapp came from a strong religious Christian family, and he didn't want his son to question himself and his faith like Scott did.

I found out I was going to be a dad around this same time last year. A couple months went by, and the baby’s mother and I split up in June. Last July was one of the hardest months of my life. I started bartending at a new restaurant. It was the grand opening and we were swamped all day. I was depressed, could barely function but I fought through the pain and put on a fake smile. I asked God for guidance many times that night. Around 10pm, amidst a still loud and crowded restaurant, I finally walked outside under the patio lights by myself to get a 5 minute break. I was the only one out there so it was so peaceful. There was a light mist in the air. Just moments later, this beautiful song began playing on the loud outside speakers, I couldn’t hold back the tears any longer. Everything I was going through was made alright though in that moment because God had given me the perfect sign. The heartbeat intro still gives me chills. Fast forward to now, I have a beautiful baby boy named Izaiah and I’m going to be the greatest dad for him. I will share this story with him some day.

This song hit me in my mid 20's. I was homeless, depressed and living on my Grandparen'ts couch and I was listening to this as I was having my very first and very real psychic spiritual awakening. I started to understand so much and also how little I understood at the same time. I cried my eyes out for the gratitude and sorrow that came in hand in hand. I miss my Grandparents, they raised me and they are both gone now. I guess Spirit was holding me at that moment letting me know there was so much left in life to see.

Creed is a lesson in the duality of man. Scott Stapp has said in interviews that he doesn't know why he wrote his music this way, but says he felt compelled to do so by a higher power. My father used to sing this song to me when I was young. He was also a tortured man. May god rest hos soul.. Love you dad, miss you so much..

This song came on the radio as I started my car to move it from emergency parking in front of the hospital. My wife had just given birth to our first child. I was always skeptical hearing stories like this. I no longer am skeptical. Tons of emotions, this made it over the top. It still brings me back to that day. My daughter is 20 now. For all those young parents out there, stay the course, keep trying, you’ll make it!

Well... unfortunately this comment did not age well. My father relapsed and got 3 DUI's within 3 months. He will now be spending his 61st, 62nd, and potentially his 63rd birthday in prison. I'm sorry. You know that Paul the apostle who was the apostle to the gentiles (us) says that those who know Christ don't grieve like others who have no hope. What does this mean? If you believe in Christ fully, there is no need to grieve because we have an eternal life outside this place.

I was a teenager when this song came out. It seemed so cheesey and corny, we relentlessly made fun of it. My tastes were much cooler, I thought. But now that I've got a little son in my life, this song makes me cry, lol. Its so evocative. I didn't like kids or know how to act until I had the baby in my arms. I had no idea I was going to love him so much. This song truly hits that nerve, right on the bullseye. It's funny how this stuff changes you. Time passes, and you take different perspectives on the same things.
