Creek Bullhead Catfish Fishing next to Kayak Ramp (unexpected catch!)

I was not expecting this fish!
In this video I go to a local kayak launch on a creek to fish for some bullheads using some old but fresh cut bait. I had a few baby skipjacks left over from a fishing trip to see if I could catch some Bullhead Catfish with to use later as Flathead Catfish bait. The very first fish I caught was a surprise! I was also able to catch one of the biggest Bullhead Catfish of the year! This was a very interesting evening.

Night crawlers are the best for bullheads just use one pole then they wont swallow the hook as much bring alot of crawlers too i catch 20 + every time thx again for the videos keep it up

That one fish look like a green sunfish. Not a rock bass, but didn't really get a good look at it. Great video Billy. sometimes just a relaxing day catching bait is just as fun as catching the big ones.

Honestly if you don't want bullhead to swallow the hook you have to fish with one of the two rods in your hand and be ready for the bite. And I know it's a pain in the butt, but when i do this they rarely swallow the hook. And I know all fish like worms but if you use a 1/0 circle hook and a night crawler or half of a night crawler it will be to big for other fish and you will get the bullheads easily. I caught 15 in the creek by my house in 1 hour by doing this two days ago.

Billy cut your bait small and hold the rod in your hand , with a size six Aberdeen and you will catch all you want

Why don't you have a floating bait bucket? Eliminates oxygen problem. Put bait in 5-gal bubbler too take home.

I do need to try the new small Fle-Fly circle hooks. They are built like the Team Catfish ones but in "Panfish" sizes.

When bank fishing like you are now I always bring a small piece of rope and a bucket with a bunch of holes drilled in it to put the fish in that I want to keep in the water while fishing in the lake to keep them alive

We catch bull heads all the time but the only way I know to catch em is to hold the rod in my hand and feel for them to pick up the bait and jerk
