Most all the areas where I use to be able to fish from the bank, have had “piers” installed or you have to “rent”boats and trolling motors from them and there is no more fishing from the bank.. I’d say it’s mostly because of people leaving their trash behind and the park employees having to clean up after them but it’s also, the revenue made from charging to fish from the pier and rent their equipment as well as being able to police the ones with no license or under sized fish on the pier, or coming back in to the boat dock.. Either way, it stinks for those of us who grew up fishing those banks..

I noticed that you do what alot of us do...once you get a bite and get excited, the pace of your retrieve increases quite a bit and then they don't hit or can't get a hookset. I try to remind myself to slow down to the pace I was reeling before I get a bite...but you still catch way more fish than I do, bud, LOL

If you’re ever in my part of VA try a stop on the Roanoke River. Roanoke County, City of Salem, or Roanoke City. Really nice Smallmouth and some Largemouth. Nice video John. Some real nice Bass

Great video, I live in southeastern Virginia along the coast of the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. We have a lot of creeks, small lakes and decent rivers within an hour's drive, but I don't recall any of those being as isolated as the one you fished in this video. I enjoyed it very much! Recognized where you were by the big barn and the spring that enters the creek. Waded about a half mile farther down from where you were on August 10th, 9 smallmouth on whopper plopper and 5 on Ned rig. It's a good spot through there. Hits New River a little farther down. Good video, last buck was really nice for around here.

I had no idea large mouth were in creeks. I live in southern West Virginia, very close to there and fish often but not a lot of creeks and rivers. So you can just stop at certain creeks and through out a fluke and catch fish lol??? what should I look for in places to stop and fish???

nice fish.really stinks to see any animal hurt esp a majestic deer.maybe a car hit them as they were leaping over a rd.i like the lure .i got 2 big bass yesterday on a ned rig within 5 minutes .dead stickin in that awful heat .biggest bass of the year ..i unintentionally. casted let it sink and sit like 30,45 sec maybe then i saw my line going out .i picked ip and realized it was coming straight at me. fish got tangled in the grass.i had to let it sit like 2 min.only had a 5 ft 10 in rod with 6 lb line..point if story bass like to play possum
