I’m not in the famous names tournament fishing big bass boats that’s not Fishing you are the real true American fisherman Just keep doing what you’re doing

John, I just this February got hurt on the oil rig I work on, a piece of drill pipe fell out of the Derrick on me and a friend and he did not survive, I broke 14 bones and barely lived. As I was recovering I told myself if I get better I would start fishing again and I found your videos and they have brought me so much joy and happiness. You are the reason I got back out there and started fishing again. It has brought me so much peace and content and I’m truly happy again. I’ll fish for anything but I enjoy bass fishing so much here in Oklahoma. We have some absolutely monster bass out here and going out and finding them is the best part of the adventure. Would love to fish with you sir. Love your videos man. God bless

I’m a Hoosier and this is the story I’m sticking with… Frogs don’t come out until twilight, and the fish in a small indiana lake, that gets fished regularly, know it. They were thinking something was sketchy about that plastic frog. All my best for the adventures you bring.

Northern Indiana native here. I've caught more bass on crankbaits than any other lure. When they're hitting the surface like you saw, I use floating jointed rapala or suspending jointed shadrap. I prefer the silver, gold, or green color patterns. I park my kayak on the edge of the lily pads, casting towards the center. Just caught a bunch of bass and a massive 11" black crappie yesterday at Chain O Lakes state park using this method. So many Indiana fisherman use jigs and weedless soft plastics because of the thick vegetation commonly found in our lakes (fertilizer runoff from farms). Crankbaits from a kayak offer a different presentation that I've found to be very successful.

That one that came back for it might've been a different one! That happened to me yesterday. I had a fish, and then it got me stuck in a tree. I went over to get it out, it came off, my lure shot out of the tree and a big one grabbed it. It was awesome. 19.50

Similar situation for me this week, on a smaller scale 😅. Frogs didn't do it, black wacky rig and softbait got a largy and a number of rock bass.

That pond looked incredible and very fishy. Love the same childlike enthusiasm I share when they're biting. I had a 34 fish Thursday, day off work, small pond and started first thing in the morning. Topwater was ok for the first 1-2 hours but had to switch to 3.5 inch swim baits. When that shut down the wacky rig Yum Dinger in black and blue flake was money. Blessings from the upper Midwest brother.

Some days are like that, I have this app it's called bass forecast it mainly goes by the moon phase & weather, you can put in where your wanting to fish & it will forecast that area, 10$ a yr, not bad, that June bug color yum dinger, I hear that it's 1 of the best colors around grass, you had a great flurry of catches there, it's got to be great being able to do as you please when I comes to fishing you are very blessed, you was at the right place at the right time being on KZbin, I'm 22 yrs older than you, if I was younger I might could have had my own channel, but I'm getting prepared for retirement now! I think a weightless plastic is a great choice. For me it would be a 5” fluke on a 4/0 EWG. My bait to cover water would be a 3-4” swimbait or a swimming a strike king structure bug on a light 1/8 Texas rig.

What a nice little lake! Definitely had a fishy look to it! When it is super still like that, one of my favourite tactics is walking soft plastics like stick baits and crayfish/creature baits over the surface. But one I've found to be really good is paddle-tailed worm baits. The paddle tail really sticks to the calm surface and makes a rapid disturbance when you give it a tug. Both largemouth and smallmouth absolutely hammer it. I find the claws on crayfish baits also work awesome for that.
@kentlewan2 жыл бұрын
I agree the rubber crayfish with lifelike claws are good bass baits up here in WI when fishing sandy bottoms. If there is a lot of weeds in the water I switch to rubber worms. Interesting to see how well that YUM works in IN. That lake is full of big bass! Impressive. They must grow faster down south. p.s. sad to see that ditch in the beginning covered in a mat of algae like that. The problem is the farmer overloading the corn field on either side with fertilizer. Don't they have setback rules?
