I remember back in 1976 and I was 3 months out of the Army. I was a music and youth minister in NE Oklahoma. A man in my church offered to teach me how to fish and we went on a creek much like this one and caught small mouth and rock bass and blue gill the size of your hand. I remember laughing and giggling the whole time. Never had so much fun in my life. I came home and told my wife about it until she told me I had to quit giggling because she needed to go to sleep. And that was the beginning of a 50 plus year obsession with fishing. I still love going to those creeks. I know fish in my inner tube in the Brazzos river below Possusm Kingdom Lake in Graham Texas. Thanks for this video. It brought back so very much.

Holston river. North middle and south fork are all good, but I'd bet money he's fishing one of the forks . The south fork is more narrow than the other two, and the south fork has nice trout fishing as well. The north in particular has some of the biggest small mouth in the state.

Brother John-You mentioned, near the start of this video, that you were in my home State of Virginia. Might I ask where, in terms of a Town, or a City? Anyway:Went fishing today, and caught a nice Largemouth Bass, probably 14-16 inches, almost right off the bat! I had rigged a natural Nightcrawler, Texas-Rig Style, and cast it right in front of me, and he came out from underneath the dock that I was fishing at, and nailed it! After that, I caught a bunch of nice-sized Bluegill, and some Red-Eared Sunfish. After about 12:30, though, the fish almost totally stopped biting. I called it a day after that. I see where you finally made it to 146,000 Subscribers. Congratulations on that! I hope you'll be able to get to 150,000 Subscribers, before the year is done. You definitely caught ya some nice Smallies there, bud! Keep up the great work, and I'll look forward to your next video...& beyond! Have a great evening, and God bless you and yours!

That's all I fish nowadays, is creeks and small rivers. I have a couple on my farm in central N.C. so it's very convenient. I use an ultralight and have a blast. Catch several types of bream; the warmouth, bluegill, redear, robins, green sunfish and my favorite, the pumpkinseed. Such colorful little fighters. Occasionally I'll catch largemouth bass, red fin pickerel, Roanoke bass and spotted bass. The nice thing about fishing in that environment is the beautiful scenery. Even if the fish aren't biting, it's still an enjoyable day.

I know what you’re talking bout too, the creeks near my house only produce little smallies and they’re few and far between but a year ago I took the family camping to Chenango Valley and the river there had 3-5lbs smallies that you could catch effortlessly. Such an interesting take on fishing... the last time I lived in Austin, TX, about 15 years ago, I would see the smallest creeks/ditches that contained moving, clear water and would hold all kinds of fish... you might see a 3-pound largemouth swimming in a ditch in the back of a strip mall in Round Rock or some kind of school of exotic cichlids in a trash-filled drainage area off a major road... never thought of fishing in such an area, but I will, if I ever get back...

John have you ever used that tiny diameter high breaking strength Japanese braid? I’m not talking about 1lb test diameter 6lb test. I am talking about line thinner than 1lb test and around 13lb test. The best that I’ve uses is Varivas brand for strength. But I really like Sunline Sigleon .6 goh. The .6 is the Japanese size. I would not really know how to equate the diameter to what we have in the states. If you want to check this out Bait Finesse Empire carries it. Just thought I’d mention it sense it’s great for creeks. Also pal for finesse fishing you really should look into BFS. It’s a ball of fun.
