broooooooooooo, why do some men think it's okay to be creepy.
Dear Creeps,
Seriously, go trip in a ditch.
Sincerely,
Everyone
I literally use 20 minutes of your life complaining about the creeps I've encountered here in Korea while I do my makeup terribly. Enjoy

And the ‘insistent’ guy, pursuing his love is romanticized in movies and dramas, especially in Korea. They really have no idea how creepy it actually is.

some tips to avoid creepy men in South Korea: - buy a fancy ring and keep it on your ring finger if someone asks for your marriage/relationship status - there are safe spots all over that are built for women if they feel unsafe. you can call the police or just wait until you feel safe. men that see you enter these rooms will most likely leave you alone, because predators don't like dealing with women who will fight back. (I don't recall how they look exactly, but they should be noticeable) - if you think you're being followed, DON'T go to an isolated area, go where people are everywhere; it's harder to creep on women if they're around people who will most likely see what's going on. - stop worrying about being nice; creeps will use your kindness to their advantage. better safe, then sorry, right? - don't be afraid to call the police or make noise to bring attention to the situation. creeps don't like attention or trouble.

this one doesn't apply as heavily to Korea, but in places like America or Canada, yelling "fire" instead of "rape" or "help" will draw more attention.

This has happened to me and my older sister about 3 years ago when we went to korea to visit my aunt and mom. We were on our way home after going out, when all of the sudden a group of korean guys (maybe 4?) Started following us. I was very scared since I was only like 17 years old. But my older sister wasnt even bothered by the situation because she lived in korea for 10 years. About 5 minutes later they kept following us and then my sister started to get red flags. We walked faster but one of then reached to us and repeatedly kept saying "please help I lost my dog" I was very alarmed at this point but I kept calm and was like "no sorry we dont have time" he kept on insisting even though my sister clearly said "No" to him. as my sister looked behind, the other 3 guys were walking to us AT A VERY ALARMING SPEED. Thats when we knew we had to get tf out of there so so started running so fast. I dont clearly remember who started running first, me or my sister. But all I know is that, we reached home very fast because of the running lol. BUT STAY SAFE IN KOREA YALL

A lot of mental abuse, narcissism and almost rape on one account. Thank goodness she came home unharmed except for a lot of mental anguish she had to deal with. When she was in Korea, the society seemed very nice on the outside but once you become a part of it, there is a very dark and sad side that gave her a lot of depression. There are wonderful people in Korea with a great traditions, food and entertainment but I can’t say this enough.....what we see in the dramas and in KPOP is not the real Korea!

@@franciscaescobar3042 There was so much depression among Koreans and the suicide rate at that time was one of the highest in the world. She honestly wanted to help in some way but at that time depression was not recognized as a true illness and her not being fluent in the language made it impossible. I’m not sure how depression is treated today in Korea. The drinking culture is extreme and you were frowned upon and considered disrespectful if you didn’t join in. It’s such a work based culture...much longer than 8 hours a day so there was a certain sense of loneliness. She was an exchange student for a year and she had a perfect score before going to college there. Korea is a competitive society and rightly so because it’s a small country. So no matter how well you did in a class only a certain percentage would pass and foreigners were not considered top priority then. Also she took a class that was supposed to be in English but half way through the professor decided to just start teaching in a Korean since the majority of the class was Korean. Needless to say it dropped her grade point average. I could go on and on but I don’t think anyone wants to read this book.

And indeed it is what I'm trying to do with my own. Sadly, misogyny and patriarch views are ingrained in society as a whole, including in women's mindsets that help perpetuate these, or simply is what is expected, having known nothing else. It isn't about a 'boy band' at all, but when ppl lile them come around, talking abt self love, abt how to love others, about respect, showing, as men, affection and emotions, breaking stereotypes abt men in society, they make you wake up and say: "Hold the F up, no more". That's some of many reasons they get so much hate, especially from men and ppl who can't understand how they are attractive by lifting up others while breaking barriers and not conforming to societal standards and expectations. That's why we say they have raised the standard on men. Women and men in the fandom now know better.

The biggest mistake that most girls do when they're approached by male strangers is being nice. Once you're opening up by being nice, the person who's acting like a predator shall gain instant power over you. What you wanna do is to actually look annoyed, bothered, and pissed off right before they even utter a sound. Just give them the "what the F do you want" type of look, the "i'm gonna kick your ass just because you've bothered me" type of confident look. And yes, wearing a wedding ring is a brilliant idea. Don't worry that you're gonna end up single, because a really cool guy who likes you for who you are, shall be interested in your friendship first.

He came in at least 10 more times, and would hang around for hours at a time. He freaked me the hell out.

My creepiest guy story was in my home country Sweden and some huge African dude found me in the library and sat down in the seat right next to me on an otherwise empty bench, said he just arrived in Sweden just 2 weeks earlier, said he had never seen white skin up close and was touching my arm, then he said golden hair and started touching my hair and I was relentlessly texting some guy friend that lived nearby saying I was harassed by a person and I needed him to come pretend to be my bf and save me which thankfully he did. The African man suggested that I'd bleeping join him in the bathroom saying Swedish women were the most beautiful he had ever seen and right then my friend showed up and I did the huge smile and ran towards my friend into a huge hug and whispered "get me out of here". My hair still stands on end at how horribly uncomfortable that was and I'm forever grateful to the friend.

I’ve experienced the creepy guy and the guy who’s persistent. The persistent guy who goes about it the right way makes you feel special and worth it. Ofc still be careful like with anyone. Creeps who don’t take the hint and go about it the wrong way - totally different. Don’t mix the two. Experienced both. As for the guy who asked for your number , if you got creep vibes then yeah be safe. If he didn’t give the vibes then meeting him somewhere without giving your number or anything would be aight. That said, this guy was over the top and creepy. Definitely creep vibes. But you went about it wrong, if he was dangerous then up the mountain would’ve been more dangerous + you should’ve said yes you had a boyfriend. Maybe even pretend to call him to come meet you, have a guy friend show up.ii Also, girls treat guys like this too sometimes. Creeps run on both sides. But yeah both of those guys seemed very shady no doubt. No matter where you are there’s always bad apples. I don’t think it was a kidnapping but was dangerous for other reasons... You should’ve asked to go with the shoe guy too lol you waiting in the store instead of going with the other guy may of caused you to get stuck in that situation again Also yes, korea would do better with few foreigners. The culture is beautiful and all about respect and so many things that raise good men and women. Yeah again, bad apples are anywhere. But point is, it’s doing way better than most. So they shouldn’t have many foreigners who hasn’t grown up in that country and with that respect. Plus, those who do go to another country must respect the country and really adapt to it. If you’re there to bring your country there, leave. Anyway yeah, makes sense it’s the foreigners ...ii

This is one good thing about being an older woman -- I live in Japan and when I was younger, I was creeped on regularly. Hi. I feel you. This doesn't happen only to non-Korean women. I myself as a Korean consider myself non-Korean though, but the only way to deal with it was completely ignoring them as male, meaning I don't consider them as proper human beings. It doesn't mean that I consider non-Korean males superior than Korean male. It's just a destiny of being born as Korean woman. This part of the world is unique. Japan and Korea have this unique problem of creeps and perverted form of romanticising, and point of all of this is that they don't consider this as problems. Bad behaviours are not considered as bad behaviours. And plus, female obssession of cuteness (Japan), obsession of pretty (Korea), this is unique in this part of the world I would say. Other parts of the world have fare share of issues of the same topic. It's been around since ancient and why would any woman expect differently? Korean women are often considered easy target and pushover, when we go abroad travel. Abroad means west, westwards I mean. But I'm trained here in Korea to completely disregard those idiots who are not worthy of being treated as fellow human beings. Sorry but not sorry. Korean women may look like easy target but in reality of our minds, it's very different. Let's just not judge women by nationality we need sisterhood. Why do they exist, the males. I mean, I feel you. thank you. Today I have been followed by an ugly creep, being stared millions by creeps who think they are handsome,(but ugly in hearts). All those are Korean males. Do I look for non-Korean men, for this sake? Yes! but that doesn't make me 'easy target'. I wish to support fellow human beings. I don't know about Russian men, the only experiences I had with them was few people I encountered on my travel to west asia, they were not those type that points finger to a random woman on streets and rude, they were good fellows in my eyes because they were surprisingly very gentle to me. Hope you fucking completely disregard them and laugh inside, as that's the only way to go, to deal with Korean male problem. or any. as they don't consider this as an issue that makes female get freaked out, scared, and downright fucking annoyed and angry. Maybe they thought they can do whatever they want if they're in Korea? if that's so, it's fucking mental. As I encountered the exact same type of Korean idiots(assholes) when I traveled Southeast asia. How dirty they behave! towards me and perhaps to all, in general. Good rest. Hope you don't ruin your day. Let's not ruin our days. - from a person who had my days ruined by korean creeps many, many times.(perhaps million times?) - Good night

Girls if you feel like somebody is following you do this tip. I'm really not that good at acting but I can act so if i feel being followed i get my phone (make it like you just received a call) then casually say like: hello..uhm yeah..uhuh (make it sound like cool) then suddenly raise your voice quite bit saying What! (like your in shock) then say something like "didn't I tell to dispose those bodies properly" "I told you to kill it right and what did you do" "I don't care chop them off just make sure to clean the mess after I don't want to smell blood when I get back" "ask 10 million for an exchange there rich anyway" and ofc end it with "make sure you won't fail, ok" then act like your look around then keep walking like it's nothing. This works for me like lol. 🙄

Girl, your first story reminded me of a case in japan of a British Girl who was also followed and asked for her number she declined and went on but she was on a bike and the guy was jogging to keep up with her. Later he asked he just wanted to improve his english so the girl was so innocent and he followed her home after a while the girl dissapeared and they found her corpse in his apartment. This was a huge thing in the media in japan. If a guy don't accept your"NO" and is jogging or follow behind you that's propably a PSYCHO.
