My mom lived in Bombay Beach for over 20 years, and her father and his wife, for 30 some years before her. Now my sister lives in the same home in her retirement. I was hoping you might show a glimpse of it somewhere in the footage, butI didn't see it. It's a weird place. It takes a certain kind of person to enjoy and appreciate it. It's way too hot for me, but my sister loves the heat, so she does well there. Thanks for sharing!

In Connecticut some years ago, an artist bought a foreclosed house and wrote on all walls. The house became a book - highly reviewed as a performance art. When the exhibit was over, the artist sold the house. Have no idea what happened to the novel written on it, but there may be photos online.

I just came back from visiting Salvation Mountain and Slab City. I loved it too. I drove from home in San Diego, and I didn't have the energy to drive to Bombay Beach. I was bummed, but that was 5 hr of driving in one day. Thanks for the tour. I hope you know who that was, and what he was saying by "I live in a ....." One of my all time favorite skits from SLN.

Hey Caroline, I am so confused about the Salton Sea. I was there, 40 years ago, exactly 40 years ago, and the place was kind of a ghost town, we stayed in a crappy motel, they had sand blowing everywhere, no water in the swimming pool. No other guests. The owner was there and handed us sheets and towels and charged us US$25 for a week. We were only staying for 2 nights but took the weekly rate, lol. There was no water in the sea, but there was a marina, which had no water near it, it was all sand and desolate as well. There were new subdivisions, that had all the plumbing and electrical, etc., but no houses were built. Just marked out. There were lots of billboards along a highway advertising the place. So… All the houses that you were looking at, where they built newer than 40 years ago?
@louiselemarr533 Жыл бұрын
I was there in the 80's and remember water in the Salton Sea, but mainly big stinky beaches cuz of dead fish. The were a few real estate sales offices, but they were not doing much. And I don't believe all those cottages were there yet.

That was a BA (big ass) 🌵 cactus! Definitely a one of a kind place! I think we’d all see it in our own perspective! I live in a changing world! Thank u for sharing your art!! Safe travels! Love Sadie
