My friend has one of these machines and even putting fresh seeds in on what he tells me is the finest grind it pours through. Even for an automatic it seems strange. Is there anything to know or look out for with these machines?

confused with how long to hold the middle button for a larger amount of coffee....seems they interchange "programming" it with holding buttons. maybe i need another cup! (what's with all the giggles?)

I'm not a native English speaker and I wanted to ask is Lungo equals Pressure brewed coffee in English?

Interesting. It is to compete with the Krupps & probably makes a better cup. Can you get just hot water out of this should you want to brew someone a cup of tea? Thanks

Is there a reason my large-cup setting would be dispensing relatively flavourless and watery coffee? Any suggestions? I'm using half of a standard-mug size and there's zero body happening. Are certain beans required for this unit? I'm testing with a light-roast delivered from Tonx.

We recommend a medium or light roast for best results, as the oils in darker roasts can clog the grinders of these machines, so as long as the light roast Tonx have a matte finish and are not shiny, those beans will work. The Micro line grinds just 10 grams of coffee maximum, and so the results using the long coffee button will be a bit weak. We will typically brew a double shot for a long coffee, so for stronger results try half the water volume, and press the brew button to brew twice. - Teri

I heard because it uses less grams of coffee So you almost have to do two short cups to make one full cup of coffee

I just bought one of these after my Saeco Minuto broke down, I drink black coffee/americano and thought I'd give it a go. I liked the idea of the simplicity (not having to get the brew group out and clean it all the time etc). On the Minuto I'd either run the 'coffee' setting or, when filling my 12oz cup for travel, I'd run two shots and top with hot water, both awesome. I set the ENA 1 'coffee' button to fill my 6oz cup as usual, but so far it's just tasting odd. It's not as nice as the Minuto, it reminds me of when I had a stab at pour-overs and the end result was a little bitter. Crema looks okay, it tastes fine when hot, but when it starts to cool down it's just bitter and looks watery. I always tend to let my drinks get colder and they normally taste better as they cool. Can anyone comment on how the 'coffee' settings between the Minuto and ENA1 compare? At this stage I'm not sure if it's the grind, the beans or just the way the machine makes the coffee. I wonder what pressure the ENA 1 uses for that third button coffee setting? Also because I can't dispense hot water I can't top an espresso shot with hot water to see if that helps. Could it be that it's pouring the extra water through the coffee and that is making it weird? FYI I am using with the water filter. Can anyone shed any light or offer tips? I really want to keep the machine, but need to get my coffee tasting good again :)

Since this machine is so automated, it can be hard to customize your drink. You can certainly change your beans, alter the strength of the coffee within the parameters of the dosage, and also change the grind settings. I would try to change those different settings one at a time and try to find a cup that you enjoy. - Steven

In going to guess and say it's the grind that's changing the taste...assuming your using the same beans and roast from your other machine.
