Durham, North Carolina is known for its sprawling tobacco fields and shady walnut trees, but the town also bears the unusual claim of being home to one of the best-known analysts of Quebec homicides - John Allore himself.
For almost two decades, Allore has tirelessly probed unsolved murders in his ultimate quest to uncover the fate of his sister, Theresa, found dead in the province's Eastern Townships region in 1979.
Theresa, 19, disappeared outside her dorm room in Compton, Quebec, several kilometres from her school at Champlain College in Compton in the Eastern Townships in early November 1978. Theresa was found dead clad only in a bra and panties in woods about one kilometre away from the dorms.

I'm pretty sure I've seen this story previously on either W5 or Fifth Estate; it just rings a bell. I did go on the website. How sad that he just passed. Below is what the site wrote. He got hit by a car while on his bike: " It is with great sadness that we share the news that John passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023 after being struck by a car on his morning bike ride. John devoted his life to the pursuit of solving the murder of his sister Theresa and to helping the families of missing and murdered women find out what happened to their loved ones and seek justice. John was a devoted father to his three daughters and active in his community as Budget Director of the City of Durham. We, the families and friends of the missing and murdered, owe him a great debt of gratitude for all his dedication, courage and valuable research. His passing leaves an unfillable void as his work will not be able to continue without him. Thank you, John, for all that you’ve done. Our hearts go with you on this final voyage. At last you will be reunited with your sister. Our heartfelt condolences go out to John’s beloved daughters, his family, and his friends. He will be sorely missed by all."

Yeah i just found out in a article.. sooo freaking sad... he helped so many persons.. he wanted to solve his sister murder and found her killer(s) no matter the cost... its one of sadest case i ever know... I hope that other people will continue his fight to elucidate Theresa's murder.. He didn't do it all for nothing... As well as the podcast and surely other ways to help that I don't know about.. It absolutely must continue ... It's his legacy.. never to forget it because at first it was for his sister but it's also for other people like him who was/is let down by authorities who did nothing ... it's so sad. .. but we must continue, never give up to finally know the truth about Theresa's case and continue to help other... I didn't know him but I'm sure that's what he would want...

I’m in Australia and I have watched a lot of true crime over the years and one thing that I have noticed is that the Canadian stories seem to all have a similar aspect, that Canadian law enforcement always seem to do a pitiful job. I’ve seen stories from the past like this one, right up to recent stories and they all have families saying the same things regarding their dealings with law enforcement.

I'm in Australia too and have really just started watching these youtube videos. They are horrific and I really think I'm done. However, as I was a young woman in the 1970s, and knowing how badly women were (and are still) treated, I am shocked and saddened by the response of the police to Theresa's murder, I am not surprised. Some of the Canadian sentences are unbelievably lenient as are those in Australia.

In my Canadian History courses at uni, Quebec history and eventually the history of upper and lower Canada was laid out very clearly for us by multiple professors. Over 500 years ago when the powers that be wanted the population of Canada to grow (the powers being the Seigneurial System under the King of France, the Catholic Church and eventually the King of England). Everyone encouraged the migration of women from France & England & many European countries and once in Canada, these women were protected. They wanted women to come to Canada, lived their lives here, get married, have several children, etc. If a man raped a woman at this time he was put to death. Eventually through the centuries that became life in prison, to many years, decades, in prison. Until we arrive at the 20th century when women were no longer valued or protected, they were victim blamed (clothing, being out at night, drinking). Lastly in the 21st century, the rape and murder of women is not even being investigated. This wonderful man❤️ (Theresa’s brother) will be part of history in his vocal role that got a cold case unit established as part of police services. Perhaps he and his sister are looking down and smiling at the reversal in attitude and policy across this land, that now will contribute to SOLVING these horrific cases. RIP & Condolences to all the families. 💔

The statement from the police at the end was truly disgusting. The knew almost immediately that Theresa had been strangled, that she had no drugs or alcohol in her system, yet continued with the lies of a drug overdose or drunken accident. Sadly, probably most of the police working at the time are probably dead, never to have been held accountable for their criminal neglect and disregard of evidence.

A brother we ALL wish we had to stand in our corner. This Gladiator fought for justice not just for his sister but for others. I was genuinely crushed at the end of this video to know he was killed by a car whilst enjoying a bike ride in the countryside that he enjoyed to salve his angst, a hobby he took up to help him deal with his sister's murder. Times like this I question God when a good, kind fighter in life can be taken this way. I hope this gentleman finds peace and is once again in his sister's arms knowing all the answers....RIP sweet man & your sister Theresa xxx

Not really there are still lots of missing and murdered women and cops that are "not smart or devoted" they ignore evidence sometimes even when they have it. They have little empathy for victims and victim's families excuses about jurisdiction etc. anything to avoid doing their jobs.

More than 600,000 persons go missing in the United States every year. Anywhere between 89 percent to 92 percent of those missing people are recovered every year, either alive or deceased. Each year, police record over 100,000 missing persons in Canada. In the overwhelming majority of cases, missing persons are located within a very short period of time , either alive or deceased.

Something to do with the fact that he keep digging for answers and was stalked and routine established so they could get rid of him. Now, can you imagine the outrage NOWADAYS, had Theresa been Indigenous or Black? Eh? We'd never hear the end of it, the prejudice! accused her of doing drugs, didn't "want" to investigate, and compared to the extra search for that white 12 year old, well... The woke crowd would have a field day: as they DO in other cases, never looking at it from any other lens. I don't find what the police did here unreasonable: stranger on stranger murders are extremely difficult to solve, and are in fact rarely solved, the world over. So instead of doing nothing at all, the police pursued the other possible hypothesis, drugs and co-students, bc had they discovered anything along those lines, they could have done something about it. In those days, decades ago, there were no recognized tactics to even begin searching for a serial killer; in fact serial killers weren't recognized as an entity before the 1980s. So there were other murders in the area. SURE! why does it surprise the brother that those weren't solved?? If it is a serial killer, the police won't be able to solve it, not bc they're incompetent, or "obstructing", but bc it's hardly ever solved, even today, and even less so in the 70s. My conclusion: I feel for the brother, but I fail to understand his outrage. YES, you betcha, it's damn hard and nearly impossible to catch a serial killer. Did you expect it to be otherwise? Have YOU been watching too many movies? Also, does the brother realize the police have MANY other cases.
@DinoCism
@DinoCism Жыл бұрын
It's not that they didn't find the murderer, it's that they didn't even look and tried to pretend it wasn't a sexual assault/homicide. Actually try listening instead of drowning everything out with the sounds of your own hyperbolic opinions. "What if she was black," well she wasn't so you can stop hyperventilating about hypothetical 'woke' people. You sound like an exhausting person to be.
