@RichardASalisbury13 жыл бұрын
I suspect she wore contact lenses during those scenes when she was in a trance. I think she convincingly portrayed someone with what used to be called multiple personality disorder (now dissociative identity disorder or DID), which can be triggered by a sufficiently brutal trauma. I realize though--and don't wish to watch any of it over again--that I'm not sure where or when the scene occurred, placed early in the film, when she found the ruby broach amidst all the disorder. I suspect that that was part of her wandering around after her teacher had killed his wife, though I'm unsure how that fits with the related scene near the end when she remembers what happened. If the broach wasn't the wife''s then I'm unsure what murder or other crime scene that early scene was about. If the broach was the wife's, then a lot of what follows is flashbacks--but then what causes her DID? And, however that early scene fits in, one thing Emilia Fox does brilliantly through the film is mature from a youngish teen, 14 or 15, to an older teen, 17 or 18--under the tutelage of her teacher, who recites good poetry so well but has weaponized it--whose DID worsens while she is becoming a fine prep-school actress.

I think he likly received a life sentence if it'd been real life. A life sentence away from the Anne (Separted). Also banned from holding any similar position. Kissing went on beyond the sight of the parents so they did not know. But there seemed the implied problem of the parents. IE Anne was fed up with there attitue also as their cares seemed to be for other things other than her emotional sexual problems. I guess it happens a lot more than we think of where a daughter or son, grows up faster than the parents are prepared for. There are a lot of cases where telling the facts of life are too late at age fifteen.

Not exactly my cup of tea as a movie, however, I thought I recognized a younger version of the fella that played Colville in Heath Ledger's "A Knight's Tale'. I checked it out and sure enough it was a much younger James Purefoy. To me, Mr. Purefoy could have made an excellent 'James Bond'. Aside from a little beefing up possibly required, he had everything else as is. He had the looks, the slight Scottish accent, the voice with a wonderful range of vocal delivery, the face with the perfect range of expressions, and above all, the guy just oozed charisma. When I watch Mr. Purefoy on screen, I hear the 'Bond' theme playing in the back of my head. (I am not gay...) I don't know how old he would be now, but apparently Daniel Craig has given his notice. Just a thought.

Is it just me, or did they use some kind of large-eyes cgi filter on Ann in several clips? I mean I know 1997 is propably rather early for that, but then again cgi was definately around by then, so it would have been possible.. It's just that there are several times in this movie where I thought her eyes looked unnaturally large, Just like you see wit that snapchat filter, or in "Alita Battle Angel".. ?!
@andiemorgan9613 жыл бұрын
No, Emilia has large eyes, like her mother, Joanna David. Some people, myself included, have natural large eyes and if they're dark it can make them even more pronounce. Actors minimise the amount of times they blink for dramatic effect during a scene. If it's a close up and they are required to stare, they will also widen their eyes, making large eyes look even bigger!😳

@D C With due respect, my comment states actors minimise blinking for dramatic effect. I did not state that alone causes enlargement of the eyes. Although when required to stare for a significant time, an actor can widen his/her eyes to make them look bigger. You are right, in this drama Emilia Fox wears contacts to make her eyes darker when becoming the alternate Anne.
