There are *far* too few Robert Cray reactions out there, so thanks for doing this one. A magnificent singer *AND* a superb guitarist - a pretty nifty songwriter too. Other songs of his I'd recommend: Phone Booth, Bad Influence, Porchlight, The Last Time (I Get Burned Like This), I've Slipped Her Mind, Consequences, Night Patrol, Labour Of Love, I Was Warned, and He Don't Live Here No More.

Robert Cray is one of the very rare GOATs. He has an amazing voice and he's a magician on the guitar.

This was a big hit for him. Played on several different stations. He still tours and has been putting out solid blues, jazz and rock albums for years. A real connection to the old guitar bands of the '60's and early 70's.

Love Robert Cray. I got to see him open for Clapton in 2006, and he came out for the final song, "Crossroads" trading solos with Eric.

I saw RC in Burlington VT around 1988. I would soon be the blues DJ for my school's 50k watt radio station.

I was in 6th grade when this came out, and it made a huge impression on me. It was about the same time as The Fabulous Thunderbirds song “Tuff Enuff” and Georgia Satellites” song “Keep Your Hands To Yourself”. Bon Jovi and Beastie Boys were just becoming superstars, but I preferred the previous songs over the latter.

Cray co-wrote one of my favorite blues songs ever with Eric Clapton, it’s called Old Love. Any version of it would be great 🔥

It was an interesting time for me when this came out. I was in my mid 20's and just getting tired of the 80's hair bands and was getting into jazz when a friend took me a blues bar and this was on the jukebox. This and Stevie Ray Vaughn were my blues introduction as well as blues bands that played this place. This led to me going to Memphis several times in the 90's and finally got to see Robert in 2006 in Telluride CO. Such good blues that gave me a new direction in the 80's.

It's funny how so many of our generation started getting into jazz in 1980s. Had always been into soul, disco and pop and then boom! 😅

Saw Robert August 1988 on Pier 86, great show. He did an album with Blues artists Albert Collins and Johnny Copeland called Showdown! . Awesome album with them all sharing vocals and solos. I'd recommend his "Right Next Door (Because of Me)" next!

One thing I love about your reactions is how you break down the lyrics and I get find out what they actually are! I mean we've all listened to songs hundreds of time without even knowing the words, let alone what they mean, and you're doing us a great service. Smokin reaction to one of my favorite songs. Keep it up bro!
