Elizabeth Sutherland case was solved but the conviction, I think, overturned 20 years later. Hilda Murrell case was solved but I think there is still controversy about that case. Veronique Marre's body was found at the bottom of a cliff near where she went missing - she died accidentally.

It also transpired that he was abusing a number of other kids too. The police also believe that he may not have acted alone in Christopher's murder. The man who was supposed to be looking after him that night but went out to the pub (Steven Hines who was married to Christopher's older sister) was later convicted for molesting children.

The Christopher Laverack case had a few twists in the tail. It was eventually solved in 2009 using a revolutionary technique which linked pollen found on a brick left with Christopher's body, and pollen in his uncle's garden. His uncle, Melvyn Read, had died before he could be brought to justice - he had been jailed for abusing other kids. Police believe though that he did not act alone and that there most likely was a local paedophile ring involved. Sadly, Christopher's body showed that he had been regularly sexually abused in the months and years leading to his death. Very worryingly, the man who was babysitting him and left him to go to the pub (Steven Hines), was later convicted himself of abusing kids. The police believe that the whole thing may have been a set up between Read, Hines and possibly others. People in the pub who saw Hines when he was there said he was acting very strangely and trying to draw attention to himself, almost like he wanted people to remember where he was at that time for an alibi.

Superb. The Hilda Murell case is quite fascinating actually - CW diehards might recall it was originally featured on Incident Desk in one of the 1984 episodes. There’s a Wikipedia page on the case. She was a high-profile anti-nuclear campaigner and there’s a theory posited that she was killed because of that.

It is an intresting case, but the problem i find with the throry she was killed by secret services for her work against nuclear energy is that its all a bit messy. Surely if the secret services really wanted an old lady dead, there are easier, cleaner, less conspicuous ways to do it...

He must have been able to afford a good barrister and he was found guilty of manslaughter. Due to the time the body was in the lake it's hard to prove how she died, which you would need for murder. The fact she was found in a lake, would say he had something to hide.
