As the proud owner of these two Kauri guitars I can’t thank Ben enough for creating such beautiful instruments. They look great and sound amazing. The man’s a genius!

Ben, you are not only skilled but also patient. Beautiful execution and design. I'm grateful.

FYI -google Langcaster guitars, they are based in nz where kauri is from and make some sweet guitars

Love the look! I think the flush mount will be better. With people screaming about “cut hands” when there’s a tiny lack of fret dressing, I would think markers that stand proud of the neck would cause a riot. 😂
@mattisvural7866Ай бұрын
I genuinely think that the fact that you had to do the sapphire inlays twice and they had such a steep learning curve made this build much more worth it and way more giving in the end. I am very pleased to be watching your videos again. Hope you are well🫶

It is a beautiful wood, difficult to work with, but worth the effort ☺️

Ben thats great work. I also greatly admire your camera skills. Filming the mounting of the gem through the magnifying glass whilst keeping it all in shot. Wow! I'm not sure many people understand how difficult some of the film work is.

Reminds me of ripping the frets out of 2 of my newly finished guitars and redoing them because I was not happy with the fretboard radius. It has to be perfect. Period. 👍

It's the perfectionist in you, combined with your attention to detail and passion that result in such exemplary builds that tend to stand out from the crowd. Kudos for taking the time to do it right - even if it meant doing it twice. The applicable engineering saying would be: "Sometimes you gotta break a few eggs to make a _real_ mayonnaise". The sound samples are especially good. You can really hear how nice it sounds - even on KZbin.

I was planning to go to the luthiary school to build a neck through Telecaster, however, I found an AIO TC1 Dark Walnut neck through and bought it, super guitar and comes with a bespoke set up. I now find myself thinking of a guitar to build at the school, I want to build something I cant buy or afford in a shop, I will start off with something simple and then build my own design, hopefully.

That Kauri is a special wood, hopefully the Client is pleased with them and actually plays them and not just hangs them on the wall.
@smmyers5956Ай бұрын
Man o man that is beautiful wood. Ben I REALLY like the change you made to the side dots. To Me they are more aesthetically pleasing. The headstock solution works. Hmm for future headstock inlays, perhaps make a bending form and bend rectangular silver solder sticks or wire around the form. Pre-bend the wire to match a routing template of the logo for fast repeat usage? Or just use silver mica and diamond dust in epoxy, simple, but we all enjoy your complicated designs. A lot.

Great ideas, thank you

Have you considered fibre optic side dots, on a build?
@_TobitАй бұрын
Have I missed the other Kauri builds? Only remember the Acoustasonic.
@PaulCooksStuffАй бұрын
You haven't missed them. Last I heard the plan was not to do full build series (lots of repetitive stages already done before), but just spotlight vids on specific techniques or novel features. But that was last month, so who knows what the plan is this week 😂

@Chrimson Custom Guitars - Have you ever thought of doing a combination of jem stones with LED lights positioned behind them so when switched on, they illuminate the jems??? Thus making them easier to see!!! 😀

translucent cabochons installed upside down, wrapped in aluminium foil. He made the change a couple of videos ago.
Any chance at developing a version of that Archimedes drill? Good vintage ones are near impossible to come by in my country and the Amazon versions aren't very good.

Ooh maybe add some fibre optics up through that silver tube next time to really add some light through the sapphire!!!

If someone wanted to make these style side dots on the cheap you could just buy earring studs with jewels in, cut the point off the back and fit 👍🏻

You also could have used more fluid paint (probably water based) and put it on the ingraving on the headstock, then just wipe the excess away.
@CrimsonCustomGuitarsАй бұрын
Great idea, I'll try that next time 😅
@BarryRowlingsonBazАй бұрын
It must be so hard getting the two side dots at the 12th fret identical, how about instead having a single, larger oval-cut sapphire there instead....
